This is the first I've heard of why you were a fan. I've often wondered and even asked before, but never got an answer. I think it's great that you are and I'm impressed by your devotion because I'm sure it's challenging to maintain from so far away. And although you made that last post in your mid-day, many of your posts must be made in the dead of night. You are truly dedicated to your passion. Mad respect for that!

BTW, I've been to New Zealand and I loved it. Spent two weeks on a self-guided tour of both islands. My favorite spots were Milford Sound, Rotorua, some alpine ice field I don't even remember the name of, numerous awesome beaches I'm not sure I ever even knew the name of, Christchurch, and much more... but man did that flight take forever!

Thanks bro, yup Stockton's style just suits me perfectly as I don't have a selfish bone in me. I just love setting up guys for easy layups or wide open jumpers, so he was really my idol. One of my childhood friend still remembers it til this day when he facebook me about the way I play trying to imitate Stockton.


Great to hear you've been to NZ!! I love Queenstown and Rotorua is also a very nice spot, you can do white water rafting, jet boating, or just rent a house on the lake and relax & kayak around. It's just a very safe place to drive around as well ...


When did you visit? Was it when you were younger or more recently with family? Sounded like you got around, good on ya :)

It was a long time ago. I was 15 and just learning to drive. I was with my father, mother and sister. I did a lot of the driving because I had an easier time driving on the wrong side of the road than my mom or dad. My mom and sister were so jet lagged that they spent a large portion of the trip just sleeping in the back seat. It's strange, but one of my most vivid memories is driving along behind a truck with a cage in the back that held the largest pig I've ever seen in my life. He was ginormous! One of the things we loved most about your country is that it felt like stepping back in time. The pace, the technology, the attitudes, the prices and everything else felt about two decades behind America. I've often wondered if that is still true. I've been fortunate to visit many places in the world. New Zealand is one of those where I could seriously imagine living long-term.
 
OL where in NZ are you?


My daughter lived & worked in Queenstown for almost a year from 2007-08 and traveled around the country quite a bit. She's been back several times since then.

Wow OK that sounded like a fun road trip, the best way to see NZ is literally just set aside 2-3 weeks, hire a car, and drive around.


I hear you about being behind everything. When we first arrived here in 1994 we were really surprised too. Like all the shops and malls here would all be closed at 5pm... that was a real shock for us coming from Bangkok where everything would be open late. Nowadays the malls open until 10pm but only on Thursdays and Fridays... other days it's still 6pm.. LOL .. but you know with the Internet, we're all up to speed with technology, etc, now.

We've really enjoyed how things are here, the slower pace, stable governments, the low corruption & crime rate, the people are courteous and friendly. The health, welfare & pension system here is very good also, can't fault it. There isn't much to have to worry about here, so yeah if you like a carefree lifestyle this really is the place for you.. :)

Christchurch where I live used to be a fantastic city for me, a great mix of old architecture and nature with all the parks and gardens, just the right size with just over 400,000 people and a lovely English feel. With the earthquakes a lot of the older buildings are now gone but 4 years on there is a sense of new found optimism here now with the Government investing in new buildings in the city, etc. I really think in about 5-10 years this would be the place to visit. I for one am excited to see what comes up from the rubbles...

Didn't you study Environmental Economics? I think you would love it here, lots of trees, forests, lots of untouched natural places to visit.


The people and the culture here are probably too PC for you though.

I have a subscription to Vanity Fair. That magazine usually has one article on celebrities an issue. I rarely if ever read those interviews because celebrities for the most part are insulated individuals with absolutely no sense of the real world. Mr. West is one of those insulated celebrities. While you can always learn new things from all types of folks, those occasions are few and far between among these types.
