Why Americans think they can be only peace keeper in world? This is not your continent do you even care? Citizens are dying and USA threats to make war?

This will end in nuclear escalation if Obama does not stop.

My peace of what i do not understand. You mean Russia keeping our peace after treaty and NATO violating or you mean allow USA to be world police and **** up every country in Middle East? We ask polite to save lives and USA tell us no?

You go tell your America to stop violating treaty and become better police or get out. Washing hands clean of Palestine deaths Lybian deaths Turkish deaths Syrian deaths it is sick how they sit in comforts of home and call Mother Russia terrorist when we go to save life. Americans so much sheltered to rest of world. You think friendly Mexican migration is catastrophic LLF.

So what constitutes a Third World War? Doesn't have to mean a war between old powers, or involve nukes. Right now, JMHO, but I believe we are involved in the War of Western Civilization vs. Islamic Fascism. To last more generations then I care to contemplate. If that isn't enough of a world war, fighting people who want to destroy civilization itself and return to some Dark Age, then what is? We are in a world war.

To me a world war will entail large powers directly fighting each other on multiple fronts. Nukes don't have to be involved but could be.

Something like:

Russia, China, Iran, Iraq, N. Korea Syria and some of their allied countries (Cambodia, Cuba, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, Mongolia, Belarus, Nicaragua...)

against

America, NATO, Israel, Japan, India, Australia, Philippines, S. Korea and some of our allied countries (Columbia, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Vietnam, Thailand, Honduras, Chile...)

My list of allies are based on current politics and who individual countries are friendly/enemies with. Such as Argentina and England not playing well together, Iran's growing hold over Iraq and India joining America, Japan and Australia in the S. China Sea to contain their biggest rival China.

Notable neutral countries: Brazil and S. Africa.

Some possible fronts: Pacific Front, Eastern European Front, Middle East Front, South/Central American Front, North African Front.
 
I can't argue with your take, Stoked. That's a scenario for a true world war. A few years ago, I caught on to the concern arising from electromagnetic pulse weapons.

On the one hand, groups such as The Heritage Foundation seem intent on ratcheting up the anxiety over EMP's:

In a sci fi level scenario, envisioning no power seems like a doorway to anarchy and societal collapse. The more specialized we become, the easier to pull the rug out from under ourselves. I know we should be more aware of what natural solar outbursts can do. Space weather now is a whole lot different in potential devastating effect then the same weather was in a pre electric era. As actual weaponry, well, we humans do seem to be good at developing innovative weaponry. Maybe we'll be back to stone clubs some day.

Well the American military and gov. are taking steps to protect their equipment v. EMP weapons. In the books the most popular version of an EMP attack seems to be altered nukes (which emit an EMP already) bursting high in the sky and frying everything in line of sight.

I think the odds of that are exceptionally unlikely. I think a large scale bomb detonating in an American city or random increased attacks on random targets on a dramatically increased scale are much more likely.
