Rudy Gobert and Gordon Hayward made Slam magazine's top 50 players

Hopefully we can get in the playoffs this year! If so, I think we could see some sweet performances from Hayseed and company against top guys. That should help visibility a lot. I also hope coach can make some sweet adjustments. It's what the playoffs are about!
 
That's what is so cool about this. We didn't make the playoffs and yet we still had two studs that cracked the top 50. I don't think we'll make the playoffs this year, but in my mind it feels like its going to be a lot like the year after John and Karl. Something magical. Or something.

If anything I'd compare it to the year following that season. The first year John and Karl left everyone thought we'd be bottom feeders and we far exceeded expectations. The next season we came in with a lot more expectations and anything but playoffs would be a letdown. Probably the worst Jazz year I can remember along with the Deron/Sloan year.

there's no way to have that kind of magic next year and fall short of the playoffs. The magic you're speaking about happened after the all-star break last year. The bar has already been raised. If the offense gets moving, and the defense is what we think it is, then there's no reason we shouldn't be in the playoffs.

Seems that Favors is being eclipsed by Gobert. I wonder if that will light a fire under Favors and we have another career year from him.

17.5 ppg, 10 rpg, 2 apg, 2 bpg on 60% FG%?
 
I agree Stoked that the offseason hype has been way more for Gobert. With that said I understand why because the one big difference in the Jazz turnaround last year was Gobert starting basically. But I think Favors is a much better player then Gobert actually and I think Favors has a chance to really be a All Star. The problem is that I think he needs a lot of touches to be that dominant and I'm not sure how many he will get. It is such an awesome problem to have in my opinion because I can't remember a Jazz team in my lifetime where I have been so high on so many players. Even the Deron years there were guys I didn't like who started or came off the bench. I love everyone on this team.

I agree that the insertion of Gobert into the starting lineup is the main catalyst that sparked the Jazz resurgence. He got the accolades as he did the work.

But to me the unsung hero of that impressive play was Favors. The wings were aggressive because they had Gobert being aggressive behind them and covering their mistakes. Gobert was able to be aggressive because of the sound defensive play and lateral quickness of Favors.

Without Favors, Gobert gets burned more by deft passes to open men at the last minute. Favors is the lynch pin of the D IMO.
