So in the beginning I solved the problem by denying notifications of likes.
The other day I ran across the button and, after an especially awesome post (heh) decided to look at likes and so re-allowed them.

To my no-surprise, all past likes popped up. More than 5,300 of them.
I didn't read one of them. Cuz I'm humble. Amirite, big b?

Liked this post.

What? I didn't know one could opt to turn this garbage off. I just looked at my settings page and don't see the ability. Can someone dumb it down for me?

I think you can only turn off the 'notification' of them? I did that the first day "Like" was introduced.

I don't complain, I simply point out bad ideas.

Such as "likes" and capping rep, i.e.

rep was one of the dumbest things to ever happen to JFC and likes are harmless.

i.e., I disagree with your take

also, this does come across as complaining. Just sayin'.

Yeah, I understand. HOW DO I DO IT?

Click on "Settings" at the top of the page. On the left, you'll see a column titled My Settings with different sections. At the bottom of that, you'll see "DBTech - Post Thanks". Click on settings under that, and on the settings page check "Disable Notifications".
