What's new

Utah Jazz @ LA Lakers Tues Oct 6th

You literally said "Still not knowing about basket interference"

No, I just said it was interesting that Withey was playing over him. I never suggested that learning the rules right away would be easy, but the fact that he doesn't know the rules and was struggling probably played a role in Withey playing over him today.

Damn Cy, do you ever sleep?

Couple of things that stand out from the box score

Withey, millsap, and Lyles look like they all had very good games. (lyles with a team high +12)

Hood and burks both played 37 minutes. Burks was a +5 for the game and Hood was a team low -14. Kind of weird

Do the Lakers even have a player who is as good as our best 3? It's not like they have anyone worth resting other than Kobe, everyone else needs practice. They did however go without Russell for most of the game and Kobe was restricted (though less than the 1st game). If you add all the starters minutes up on each side, the Lakers only played their starters 4 more minutes (if my math is right, Im tired as ish).

Our real starters (not Booker) played 88 minutes and theirs played 111 (Kobe, Hibbert, Randle, Clarkson and Russell). 23 more minutes...

Didn't watch the last half but was our 3 pt D really that bad? They shot 27% from 3...

Saw some comments in the thread about our terrible 3 D

Oh. I see. I wouldn't call it horrible.

Hood has work to do. Burke is Burke. Burks had some good on-ball moments, but is still finding his feet on D.

Couple of things stand out from your post. Of course not a mention for Burke. The guy cant seem to do right by a lot of you. Even when he has a good game he is ignored.

I thought his box score was ok. Just didn't stand out is all.
I didn't mention anything bad about him despite his team high 5 turnovers though

Or his 50% FGs and 60% 3 pt %. He had a good game and this is exactly what the jazz need from him with a few less TOs.

But Rev I think people are being cautious, I know I am, with Burke because he did great last preseason as well.

I apologize. Trey had a good game. It just didn't jump out at me in the box score is all. Tough crowd.
He had another great 1st quarter. (12 of his 15 points in that quarter)

The trick is can he sustain this into the season...

From Locke's "Emptying The Noggin":

Jazz closed out the 4th and entire OT with a 3 wing set. Hood, Burks and Millsap

Withey had 4 blocks

Burke was 5 for 6 in the first when Hayward was playing. In the 2nd Q without Hayward Burke was back to running the show and was not as successful.

Praise for Millsap, Lyles and Withey

Booker's actions could cost him a game(s) to start the season and Lyles could be very important on the season opening road trip.

Great experience for the team
