Appropriate Stuff

JazzFanz rules you accept when you post here.

Read these rules again.
If you can't, pay someone to read it to you.
If you can't afford that, have your old man read them to you.
If you don't have an old man, find a drunk and ask him to read it and explain it to you because I can guarantee you that there isn't a bum on the street that understands less of the rules than you raggedy and ridiculous posters do now.

Pretty sure no one is disputing the existence of rules. If you can't figure out what is being disputed then 1) maybe a bum on the street can explain it to you and 2) apparently you are exactly the ridiculous kind of mod they were looking for. We wouldn't want any mods that represent the population of the forum. That would muddy the water, at least in the mod forum, while bringing clarity to the mud in the normal people forum. We don't want that.

But I am not dissenting. I am just pointing out an observation.

Why don't you guys just make a private forum dedicated to inappropriate stuff so you don't get reported?

If Log didn't fully roast you, then let me add another bit:

you can really suck camel balls sometimes.

Please.

I got the response. Let's see if my summary is accurate?

The thread in question got a lot of reports. It was a PITA to deal with all the reports. Some of the content was borderline. The mods have not indicated what causes one submission to be borderline, one to be acceptable and one to be inappropriate. What they do is close the thread.

There was a secret vote amongst an undisclosed number of mods that was unanimous. End of story. No further details need be discussed.

When people are unhappy the mods insult them and make threats.

Did I miss anything?

When a report is made, or when a mod finds something ourselves, we make a thread about it in the mod forum and discuss it and vote on it.

The mod votes are not public and I doubt you will find any mod that will reveal the votes of the others. Some mods might reveal their own votes however.

As for what is "acceptable". I am sure you can understand this it has a fair amount of leeway there. Which is why we have the three mod rule to prevent one mod from just banning and closing things on their own. It allows debate and differing opinions on what is acceptable. There is no system that will be perfect and have a perfect line on what is and is not acceptable. We do the best we can.

The mods, as a group, decided that the thread should not be allowed and people continued to make new ones. For a little bit we let people vent because they didn't like the decision. Fair enough. But after a certain point it becomes rather silly. So instead of issuing out fracts or personal warnings that count towards a fract we issued a broad warning in said thread.

Edit: On a side note I find it very funny that people are mad about this action but when people report a person they demand fracts or bans. Including some of those complaining about this. Funny how draconian measures are all fine and good until they impact us.

I have a lengthy response to type up but **** it, I'm going bowling.

Seriously.

It's time for my regular league. I'll strike you all with my witty response in a couple hours.

In the meantime, just hold your breath.

Love you.

you could be misinterpreting some of the decisions people have made to report someone else. Those can be simply bouts of playacting, and not a serious action.

It's pretty funny how much Spazz and Hotttnickkk have tilted your decision-making process. Some people might not find it funny. It is though. And maybe sad, too.

Misrepresenting? Perhaps. But it is a fairly common theme. No tolerance when it is you (generally speaking, not you specifically) that is offended.

They did not alter the process but a new person, in this case two, will always alter how votes go. Also no mod is involved in all votes.

This is one unpopular action, and the resulting fallout from it, after they were made mods. Perhaps people are over reacting?

I find it funny how you think I have made any impact whatsoever on the moderating decision making. I'm still really feeling things out and trying to learn what I'm supposed to do.
I honestly haven't done much, but I appreciate the many comments that they think I've worked wonders since I've been added to the team.

Thank you for the backhanded compliments.

Did anyone not see this train wreck coming? Y'all were warned in the new mod thread over and over again. A group that can't agree on anything seemed to be in agreement that this was going to end badly.

Also, I have never reported anyone on this site. Ever.

I came to this site from Salt Lake hoops after being banned for what was perceived as an antisemitic remark. Their mod pulled back and 'un-banned' me but it was too late. I was already hooked to this systematic chaos of a site that I love.
