I came to this site from Salt Lake hoops after being banned for what was perceived as an antisemitic remark. Their mod pulled back and 'un-banned' me but it was too late. I was already hooked to this systematic chaos of a site that I love.

Pretty sure no one is disputing the existence of rules. If you can't figure out what is being disputed then 1) maybe a bum on the street can explain it to you and 2) apparently you are exactly the ridiculous kind of mod they were looking for. We wouldn't want any mods that represent the population of the forum. That would muddy the water, at least in the mod forum, while bringing clarity to the mud in the normal people forum. We don't want that.

But I am not dissenting. I am just pointing out an observation.

Why don't you guys just make a private forum dedicated to inappropriate stuff so you don't get reported?

Yes, I get snarky back when people are being dense over and over and over again.

What, do you think this is a democracy? This website is Jason's website and he can run it however he wants to with whatever rules he wants to be in place. I tend to think he has a good system set up to handle the large variety of posters and lurkers that come here. The posters don't vote on moderators. Moderators were first appointed by Jason, then when there were more they were pulled into the voting on new moderators too. Why do you think moderators have to represent the population of the forum?

If you know the rules and how the site works, what exactly is the complaint here? Is it how the thread was closed, this is an issue of procedure? Is the thread closing just the way you want to express your outrage at the new mod appointments and it was the first thing to come up to be your outlet? I really don't get what all the fuss is about but it doesn't appear to be what you say in your posts, it seems to be something between the lines.

I think Cy has a good point. Post your inappropriate stuff in a private forum that you moderate so you don't have to worry about the modstappo catching you breaking the rules in the public posting areas. Problem solved, win win.

I wouldn't have expected this level of crackdown in any scenario short of Hantlers taking a primary seat amongst the moderators. Some serious literalism happening with them right now.

From what I've seen there isn't a whole lot of "asking legit questions and expressing our legit concerns". There is a lot of complaining, attempts at arguments, and very little in the way of even attempting to understand the explanations that are given. It appears to me that no matter the explanation or answer, there will be complaining, whining, accusations, and passive or non passive aggressiveness from a few posters. It's pointless to try to reason with those that have just proven they don't want to reason.

The real explanation and almost play by play is out there posted but I can't help you if you refuse to see it.

Fwiw, I asked a legit question asking for some clarification, and the reply from a moderator was, "I'd like you to stop posting."

Seems reasonable, eh? I'm sure you'll have another snarky reply, but in the meantime, I'd still like a clarification beyond incredibly vague terms.

Well I can tell you that is not true. I often vote against other mods and they vote against me. Same with Nate, Bronco, Rev... but short of letting people into the mod forum (I doubt Jason would allow that) there is no way to prove one way or the other.

What is the same is that we all support the decision once it is made.
