If I'm NY, I do that too. Mostly because Trey's young and I'd be a team that should try to get anything for Calderon and his deal because they should probably rebuild. His cap number means little to the Jazz and they could use a proven NBA PG.Far and away? What does Calderon do well other than hit 3s? He is not nearly the distributor he used to be, at least not with Dallas and New York.
I would bet that, as bad as Trey Burke is, that New York would do a straight up Burke/Calderon trade without thinking twice.
What Calderon does is hit open shots well (we don't have a PG that does this), pass well, not turn the ball over, and not tax the team with his possessions. I'm aware that Calderon is no longer a star in the league, but fans have this attitude that you're either great or worthless. Calderon is neither, and for what would likely cost nothing but his cap number if he were to be on the block, that's good.
