DLeague Draft Saturday

The DLeague has their draft on Saturday. Any why does anyone on the board care? Well the Jazz team (the Idaho Stampede) has the first selection and it might paint a picture if they are selecting with an eye for the guy to head on up via either players getting cut or a trade. The DLeague season stats November 12.

Is there a list of the eligible players somewhere?? Last years #1 pick Robert Covington ended up starting more than half of the 76ers games...

By now you’ve heard a lot about the “affiliate player” rule, a tag that NBA teams can place on training camp cuts so that their D-League team has first dibs. This is probably on purpose, but the Jazz have more players eligible for that designation than they can use.

They shouldn’t need the rule to keep tabs on Jack Cooley or Grant Jerrett. While transparent D-League rights rules are not easy to come by4, it seems as though Idaho already has “returning player” rights to those two. Bryce Cotton’s returning player rights are held by Austin, so he also wouldn’t count against Utah’s four allowed affiliate player designations.

But Utah also acquired and subsequently waived JJ O’Brien, Treveon Graham, Erik Atkins, EJ Singler and Phil Pressey. And the Stampede can only automatically claim four of them.

They might have done this in case one of the five was claimed off waivers or signed by another NBA club, but all of them have cleared now. So Utah must decide which of those guys is less of a priority in terms of keeping them in the extended Jazz family.

The Idaho Statesman sports editor is pushing the Stampede to draft Jimmer.

Renardo Sidney is in the D-League Draft. I'd be really interested in him if he is anywhere close to being in shape.

Renardo Sidney's a noted imbecile, The Jazz probably don't want anything to do with him.

Schnider Herard is a better prospect. Sidney was VASTLY overrated by the HS services.

Yeah, there was an article that came out a few months ago that said he has really turned it around and is below 300 pounds now. He said he had an epiphany after his daughter died as a stillborn. Who knows if he really has, but if anything would do it, it would be something as traumatic as that.

Overrated or not, I dont think you can argue an in-shape and motivated Sidney isn't t a worthy NBA prospect.

I don't like Renardo Sidney - he was a waste of time to watch. He's a great example, for all the wrong reasons. I remember tuning in to see him play and he was so gassed he started throwing up on the bench..

This 6'8", 295lb 3-star player from North Carolina is a better prospect.

Not buying it.

Sidney was a way more talented prospect coming out of HS than this dude. I know he has conditioning and attitude issues, but the point is, if he has overcome this stuff (people can change), it's worth checking him out in the D-League. I'm not talking about bringing him over or anything.

Here's a 1st round mock I just found..

Idaho Stampede – Perry Jones III
Westchester Knicks – Jimmer Fredette
Iowa Energy (via LA) – Sam Thompson
Iowa Energy (via Reno) – Jeff Ayres
Delaware 87ers – Rodney Carney
Rio Grande Valley Vipers (via Texas) – Cartier Martin
Grand Rapids Drive – Ronnie Brewer
Delaware 87ers – Rysheed Jordan
Iowa Energy – Askia Booker
Rio Grande Valley Vipers – Flip Murray
Maine Red Claws (via Toronto) – Russell Byrd
Rio Grande Valley Vipers (via Fort Wayne) – Jermaine Marshall
Oklahoma City Blue – Geron Johnson
Sioux Falls Skyforce – B.J. Young
Canton Charge – J’Mison Morgan
Austin Spurs – Kenny Manigault
Bakersfield Jam – Renardo Sidney
Santa Cruz Warriors – Armani Cotton
Raptors 905 (via Maine) – Demetri McCamey

I'd take 21 year old Rysheed Jordan.. There's a few names on the list I like though.. always liked B.J. Young he's 22

Jordan is one of the better players to come from the Philly area in some time, he's a good prospect, he's got some tools, needs to mature a bit - he tries to do too much..

BJ Young!!!

I remember he had a really good Freshman year at Arkansas and at one point was mocked to go 8th overall during his Freshman year by DX. Why the **** didn't he come out then?

What's happened to that Frazier kid who got cut from the Lakers?

He got cut by the Lakers so his D-League rights belong to LA's D-League team, like how we have the rights to those dudes we signed and cut towards the end of the preseason.

So, he can't be drafted in the D-League draft.

that happened because he didn't get picked up by another team. Ok.
