Jazz have arguably the worst bench in the league

I really like Alec coming off the bench. His ability to score by himself really helps stave off any runs the other team can make, or can help close a gap. His lack of spacing and lack of ability to make his teammates better isn't a big deal with the 2nd unit.

I think those last two points are overblown, but I agree that he's best suited as a bench scorer that still plays big minutes.

He still needs to shoot a lot more 3's.

Maybe the part about making his teammates better, but I would just say pay attention to Alec when he is off the ball and how his defender plays him (or rather plays off him).

Also, last night. How many difficult layup attempts do you need to attempt before you decide to kick it out to an open 3 point shooter once in a while?

This thread was a huge over reaction to one bad game by the bench.

I admit I exaggerated a little bit. But in my opinion the Jazz have a weak bench, especially for the Western Conference standards.

The Jazz have a very promising starting lineup with Exum replacing Neto. They have to improve seriously the bench next season.

The Jazz have a weak bench by title contending standards. That is in a completely different stratosphere than "worst in the league".

Silly thread.

I disagree. Neto, Burks, Ingles, Booker, and Lyles project to be a very good bench, They also have decent if not great players not on that list in Burke, Withey, Pleiss(eventually hopefully) and Johnson. They are young and a bit unproven but I don't think they are a below average bench in the league. I believe the Jazz have a fairly deep roster but with a lot of young guys.

Agree to a point. To succeed in the NBA, a team needs a rotation of 8-9 players. The mix can be a bit different from team to team depending on where you have your combo players. For the Jazz right now, it means 3 bigs, 3 wings and 2 PG's.

I think we have 6 definites:

Studs: Favors, Gobert, Hayward, Hood
Solid Players: Burks, Exum

Good, but replaceable: Neto, Ingles, Burke
Unknown: Lyles
Fill-Ins: Booker, Withey, Pleiss, Millsap, Johnson

1. I like the Jazz' wing rotation of Hood, Hayward and Burks with Ingles as the 4th. Obviously could replace Ingles with a shooter, but this is the lowest priority, IMO.
2. Jazz need a stretch-4 and a backup 5. Need to see if Lyles and Pleiss /Withey can be those backups. Ideally, replace those two centers with a player who is 6'10"-11" and can provide some scoring and a physical presence to spell Gobert.
3. Exum and Neto should be a decent rotation. However, a PG who can hit 3's would be nice.

I don't think Neto has missed a 3 yet in his NBA career, and Exum is not a bad 3 shooter.

Where can one find bench stats for respective teams? Also, maybe someone can continually update this thread with bench scoring in comparison to the league.
