Most "Clutch" Player in the NBA...this will surprise you

I approve of this thread

Alec Burks

https://stats.nba.com/league/player...Regular Season&Period=4&DistanceRange=By Zone

Sorted to show point differential of 5 pts or less, in the 4th quarter, last 5 minutes.

In these situations Burks shoots 60%FG, 50%3PT, 100%FT. Amazing.

Burks is one of the all time greats clutch. I hate how so many jazz fans hate on him for missing half court heaves in short clock situations. It's like all they can talk about is how his 3 point percentage is bad but they never consider how many short clock heaves he takes. I'm not sure but I'm pretty sure I saw a stat last year that ranked him almost number one in short clock heaves.

Let's face it. Alec Burks is one of the greatest 3 point shooters in the NBA. I wouldn't put him up there with Seth Curry or Korver, but, come on guys. He's been shooting lights out for 3 seasons now. How much more does he have to prove before he not only gets the starting nod but also we start calling actual plays for him? I mean, pretty much every score he gets is like a broken offensive posession. Then Alec Burks comes in and saves the day. 49 wins.

This is great and all, but if your life depended on one player making one shot and the player knows that your life hangs in the balance, there is only one player that I want taking the shot: Steph Curry. The only reason he's not in this discussion is because his team has never been in a game that was within 5 points.

Actually, not true...Curry just played a close overtime game vs. Brooklyn on Saturday. But yes, I agree, if my life depended on one shot, I'd take Curry.

Based on the hypothetical scenario you presented, who on the Jazz would you choose to take that shot with your life on the line? That's a tough one.

If it were stipulated that the shot had to be driving layup against 3-4 defenders, I'd choose Burks a hundred times out of a hundred.

I stated in another thread earlier that Burks was showing up as a major player late game. He answered everything Cleveland and Miami did with 3s, dunks and FTs. Was awesome to see. I just didn't realize it was this good.

Burks has been ******* magic on the three at the buzzer at the end of quarters, not just the fourth. Seriously, if he were a free agent at the end of the season, someone would offer him a max deal.

DL gets major, major props for locking up Favors and Burks on what will probably turn out to be two of the best bang-for-buck contracts in the NBA.

Now if he can just get over his D-League fetish and shore up the bench with some actual NBA players then we may have something.

Not sure he's ever hit a go-ahead late game bucket in his career thus far. He's hit a barrage of shots to keep it close, but never to go ahead really (or even tie it up).

Only players who have are Fav, BJB, and Godward to my recollection

This is probably the most accurate post I've read on this board in years.

REally you call Hayward Godward?
That's the dubest nickname ever. Don't quit your day job
