The Jazz are trading D-Will to New Jersey!?

I will say this does stick it to everyone who gives KOC crap for playing it safe and predictable. This trade was anything but that.

Young KOC would have been the one to get a guy like DWill back for picks. In fact he actually DID get Dwill for 3 draft picks. He gave up some lesser assets to get DWill. These assets netted nothing for Porty, hence KOC raped Porty back in the day. And this was when we were not sure where DWill would be a superstar. Now that DWill is a superstar, it is old KOC who got brutally raped. Young KOC was the one who gave fair price to opposing team's good players, so that they would come to Utah. He basically stole Booz away from Cavs, and he was worth the contract. Now it is others raping old KOC, much like young KOC raped others. Porty paid Wes, like young KOC paid Booz, and old KOC lost Wes. Lost Booz, lost DWill. Evrything young KOC giveth, old KOC taketh away.

That was perhaps the most noncommital blurb I've ever read.

i'm imagining Sloan and the Mailman in their proverbial bunker together. a bomb hits. the Mailman looks around and notices that Sloan has fled. the Mailman finally gets a hold of him on his rotary in Illinois.

Mailman: "What the hell?!".

Sloan then said he had to "go rake some leaves right now."

Any good Jazz fan would know J-Slo uses a tractor to "rake" leaves.

Trying to think of the proper word when I heard the news.

I think gobsmacked is apt.

That was perhaps the most noncommital blurb I've ever read.

I read into Sloan's comment that he is kind of bitter about the whole thing. Sounded like sour grapes kind of thing to me. "What do I care, they can do what they want. Whatever, I gotta go rake leaves now. Leaves are more important to me than the job I spent 23 years at. Oh yeah and good luck."

I think you will have to look at it several ways:

1) First and foremost, this saves money. Salaries got cut by about $1.5M so that's about $2M of savings factoring in the luxury tax payments. On top of it, the Nets gives us $3M. So this trade saves us $5M as an organization but fans like us don't really care;

2) Where will this Jazz team stand with D-Will leading the team? He didn't do what Lebron or Carmelo did, but we all know he is frustrated that he is out of his comfort zone without Boozer and had to get used to new teammates. He will easily leave for another team. Then it's the way he deals with Sloan. Clearly, after 23 years, the management has a strong relationship with Sloan. They won't admit it, but we can all guess D-Will was a big reason Sloan AND Phil Johnson resigned. It is not hard to understand that the front office starts to dislike D-Will because of this.

3) This is probably the best package we can hope for. Harris is a solid point guard, who can't compare to D-Will but he can at least fill the shoes for now. Favors is the main piece and with the right investment on him, he can develop into a great player. The draft picks, given the Jazz FO draft history, might better off serve as trade assets than actual picks they make, but our future is bright.

Not saying I love to see Deron go... I am a big fan with 2 of his jerseys in my closet. But as a JAZZ FAN, you have to look to the bright side and move on and understand the Jazz actually did not do so bad.
