What's new

How bad will it have to get before Houston starts shopping everybody?

Beverley has a pretty sweet contract and it's through the 2018-2019 season. It's weird seeing a guy whose three-point % is on-par with his FG% but he plays good defense and can play a combo guard - especially in small ball.

I don't know how long it will take, but I sure am enjoying watching Dwight Howard ruin his career.

I'd definitely take jones and Beverly. It'd be pretty perfect to have those two on the jazz roster.

I really dont know why Houston would junk those players though, especially Beverly given his contract.

Maybe Jones if they know they won't be able to afford him in the off-season.

Motiejunas would be another player I'd be interested in. It makes sense they would deal Jones or Motiejunas since they can probably only afford to keep 1.

picks, braugh. that's what every team that's blowing it up wants.

Why would they blow it up when they have Harden/Ariza/Howard? It just doesn't make sense to give up on it now.

Maybe they trade Howard for something else, but I dont see them doing a total blowup. If anything I think it would be a Howard trade and them keeping guys like Jones.

I agree with most in this thread.
I would love to get jones and beverly but, A. They are not even close to blowing things up. B. They probably are not going to "blow things up" no matter how bad it gets. C. If they did blow it up, they would probably trade a player like howard rather than good younger players on decent contracts

They'd have to be on the brink of playoff elimination. Quite the early season hiccup for them though, McHale deserved to be fired.

There were rockets fans who thought they were winning 60-games this year.

they aint blowing it up this early, zero chance.

can you numbnuts read? The question in the OP ponders about when it will get bad enough to blow it up. The Inside the NBA crew agree that Harden is as big a problem as Dwight. That ship is sinking, braughs.

clutchfans is a thing of beauty right now.

My most hated team is the Lakers. And I really don't care for their fans one bit. But the fanbase I hate most of all are Rockets fans. I'd put money that they have the lowest average IQ of any fanbase in professional sports.

Ok, so if they blow it up and trade Harden/Howard then they would probably keep Jones 100% since he would be a young player to build around. Beverly would probably be available though.

if a team is blowing it up, then they're listening to all offers.

Wherever they're at now, I hope DL has enough enduring connections there to keep his fingers on the pulse. Beverley would definitely help a lot over here. He's a rich-man's Neto, and would be great off the bench when Dante returns. He can defend bigger players, too, so acquiring him doesn't mean the end of Burke.

The answer is a lot worse than it is now. Regardless of what the inside the NBA crew says about Harden, Houston won't be blowing it up to start over. They will retool\reload\whatever you call it first, which means they won't be trading for picks, but will want pieces to help them win now for any players we might covet. If we're looking to improve the team by adding talent for mostly picks, don't think Houston will be a viable option any time soon.

I also think this is the most likely outcome. Problem is, the rot in Houston is in Dwight and Harden. That makes a blowup more likely than normal, IMO.
