Official UofU homer thread

So I finally won money on a utah bet.
I have bet on Utah like 5 times this year and they let me down every time.

So today I finally took their opponent. (Colorado)
Utes were favored by 16. Thanks for not letting me down for once utes!

Some people will say this was a successful season and to some point it was but a team that fired their coach is representing the south division. We had a pretty good opportunity that's not going to come every year and we choked it away, that hurts even if we end up in a decent bowl game. And our passing game is still one of the worst horror shows I've ever seen.

While I think this is a successful season I'm still disappointed. If you told me before the year they would be 9-3 and shared the south title I'd have been happy. But the way it played out is really disappointing.
.
I am really frustrated with the conservative offense BS. Can't blame the OC anymore after 8 different guys it's obvious that the offense runs the way Kyle wants it to.

I don't want to jump on Whitt, it was a couple months ago that we were all worried that he'd leave for a bigger school....Don't want to be one of those fans that's all about the coaching staff during wins and turn against them in losses. Travis is a 4 year starter, he has to be the one to shoulder losses for on field miscues.
But it's on the coaches for BS conservative play calling. They have done this for Whitt's entire tenure. He's just not aggressive offensively he has his offense play not to lose. He turns all of the athletes on the team into defenders and generally just doesn't give his offense a chance to be better than average.

This is how it's gonna be for the rest of his tenure at Utah.

Whittingham's reputation of a lousy passing offense just kills recruiting/transfers. It's like that UCLA WR transfer Devin Lucien he had two options Utah or Arizona State, he gave both schools a fair look but surprise surprise ended up choosing Arizona State. A lot of times Utah offers a decent 3 star QB, but he also gets a offer from another Pac-12 school not named Colorado, the kid's not going to pick us. If Whitt could actually go outside his comfort zone and pick a OC outside of the people he know maybe we could change that reputation but that's not going to happen. So we are just stuck with it. We can win games but there is clearly a limit of how much you can succeed in this league without a respectable passing game.

The Utes really blew it this year with their losses to USC and UCLA. It's hard to think if this opportunity to take the south will ever be there again, given the strength of each school in recruiting.

It cost Ron McBride his job. Yet Kyle continues to do it. I'm not sure Kyle makes it another 3 years here. I just can't see this team being any good next year and without an offense it's going to be a real problem when they lose their entire LB corp. I hope I'm wrong, but I just don't see the offense being the same with a RB who is unlikely to last the season with 30+ carries a game.

Next year could be a real problem. My expectations are 6 wins and a victory over BYU.

However, I will stick up for Whitt when it comes to the MacBride comparisons. When Mac was terminated, he was winning 5 games in a G5 conference. It's hard to bring the hammer down on Whitt after two seasons of 8-4, 9-3 while playing in the PAC 12. As angry as Ute fans are right now, it's surreal to think that all of us are this angry coming on the heels of our 2 most successful PAC 12 seasons.

That being said, I think the offensive instability and woes are epic, and unforgivable. Whitt will be back next year, but I worry it's his last unless he has some sort of revelation and does an offensive 180.

Honestly from where I'm sitting that might be asking a lot. 6-6 next year would be a fairly successful season givin all the players they are losing and the lack of experienced players to replace them.
