Game #15 New Orleans Pelicans @ Utah Jazz -- Sat. Nov. 28th @ 7pm MST

Burke has been much better than expected this year. He's not the reason that this team has struggled in close or bad games. Slow starts, poor bench play and our top shooters being cold have all been bigger issues than Trey Burke.

First he only had 2 TO's the whole night not 3. Trey +/- was +4 so the idea he gave up the lead is ridiculous. The hate for the guy is none stop. He makes mistakes so does everybody on the team, yet only Burke should sit for "boneheaded" plays. Nevermind he's moving the ball well playing with guys incapable of finishing. When Burke makes mistakes I have no problems saying so. Some people here just have it set to aim their issues with the team on Trey for some unknown reason.

Dude i admire your belief on your boy but the reality has to get to you at some point doesn't it ?? I don't have much issue with him anymore now that he's not leading the team in shot attempts while choosing such stupid shots. Playing under control he's a good backup.

Ya I guess it was only two to's
Here was my play by play of burke during that stretch while watching the game
Hayward bad turnover.
Trey with the foul that should have been a clear path. (Jazz got lucky there) then Hayward left Douglas open for the three.

Beginning of the collapse?

Trey almost with an airball leading to a Davis dunk in transition

Trey turnover, fast break for New Orleans resulting in two Davis free throws

Trey dribbles the ball around against tight defense for 12 seconds and then turns it over leading to New Orleans fast break and Davis with two more free throws

10-0 run for New Orleans.

What reality? The one you choose to believe or me or any other poster? It's not even a matter of belief or disbelief in Trey's abilities. I think posters here often times are unfair and/or inaccurate with their criticism of Burke.

Yeah I watch the game today for the first time so the action is fresh in my head. If you have a chance rewatch that stretch with Trey's TO's. The first came off what was a pretty good drive. The defense collapsed on Trey and he was going to throw it to Rudy, but Rudy wasn't looking(my guess is he figured Trey was shooting and he was looking for a potential rebound). By the time Rudy started looking Trey got caught in the air and the defense close off the passing lane. On the second turnover Trey dribble the ball out close to mid court to reset the offense. Gobert came out like he was going to set a screen, but never did he just stood outside the three point line so Trey dribble towards him (again I'm assuming he was thinking Rudy would set a screen) and Rudy never set the screen or moved out of the way. So Trey went behind the back with the dribble and the ball bounced off Rudy's leg.

I may have become the resident Trey apologist, but I've been critical of him when I think his play has warrant it. It just that most of the posters here are so critical I find myself trying to add some balance to the discussion. You are one of the more fair posters on the board. Even though you are the resident Alec apologist.

Nm

Pardon my ignorance, but what does "Nm" mean? My guess was nevermind. However I don't think that is a fitting response.
Ya nevermind.
I originally posted some stuff and decided I didn't want to anymore.

Can't delete a post on the app, only edit it so I just put nm.

The reality that was so clearly evident in todays game that Trey is not capable of competing effectively at the elite level.

Do you really think it's unreasonable for people to be critical of a guy who shot the ball so poorly soooo often ?? Anyway as i've said before, i really like what he's doing this year, playing really heaps smarter and becoming much more effective in the role he's now playing

So yeah, the Jazz play out and get the 6th or 7th seed in the West. They push one of the top teams to maybe 5 or 6 games and wonder what to do next. It's nice progress for sure, but you have to wonder how high our ceiling really is if Gobert doesn't develop offense and Exum doesn't make us feel fine about passing on Giannis and CJ McCollum for Trey Burke. Jazz are a move or two away to get up into the upper tier. Otherwise, we might peak like Memphis as a 4/5 seed.

We'd also do well to replace Ingles with a real shooter off the bench.

What are you talking about. He only took 6 shots. Really should have been 5 as he was fouled on that layup. The idea you are using one game to say a player can or can't play is beyond me. So by your logic Hood isn't and good player? This is the kind of blind hate I don't get.
