Prepare for the Worst

I dunno guys, but I'm just getting the vibe that this draft is going to be very anti-climatic for us.... Look for no additional picks in the first round... Expect us to stand pat @ the #9 to pick up Aldrich, Babbit, or Henry.

Anyone else getting this sinking feeling? :(

Anyone of those players will make the Jazz a better team, I think, except maybe for... Babbit. I'm not sure if he's for real. I'm not sure if a Mike Dunleavy-type helps the Jazz more than Miles or AK.

Tomic/Okur/Fess
Millsap/somebody
AK/Miles
Henry or George/Matthews
D.Will

That isn't a bad team in a couple of years. Could make the WCF.

Indiana really wants to get out of the #10 pick...i'm starting wonder if we should think the same

What is the bad part about this? Do we get worse or something? Why do people always expect some miracle and then act bummed out if it doesnt happen? Your scenario is what, realistically, should happen. We have the 9th pick in the lotto. If, somehow, it goes better than this, awesome.

Bad? How is this good?

The Jazz can essentially get the same player @ #19 as #9. And it appears that teams are willing to unload their draft picks. Why not get more players? Is that a bad thing?

Furthermore, Aldrich, Babbit, or Henry alone doesn't offset the potential loses of Boozer and Korver this offseason. We're supposed to be getting better not worse.

Agree. Just don't get the feeling we're shaking the bushes as much as others .. looking for more opportunities.

Based upon what? How would any of us know how hard we are shaking the bushes?

My guess is that this time of year every single GM and their staff are working 24/7 trying to improve their team, including us. Moving up in the draft is tough to do

I love draft night. I'm just going to enjoy the night and give whomever the Jazz draft a shot this year before I start complaining. I won't start judging them until summer league(we are playing this year, right?).

Add a #9, subtract Boozer. Do we get worse? Yes. We certainly don't get much closer to matching up against the Lakers. LA is already sending out rumors to FA's. They want a defensive SG like Raja. And I bet they somehow upgrade at PG.

The gap is widening. And getting the #9, but losing Boozer means Utah will just be treading water at best.

You watch, the Jazz will draft Babbitt at #9 and then KOC and Greg Miller will say with totally straight faces in July that they did everything they could to keep Boozer, but he was determined to sign elsewhere. No, I don't want Boozer back. But $3M will buy an extra 1st in an extremely deep draft. Add that to a 3-yr guaranteed deal and you'll pay around $3M/per for a mid-1st. In a deep draft, that's chicken feed. Certainly better than signing scrubs like Price, Gaines and Jeffers. And what big can you find at that price. That's a bargain to spend on a Brackins or Orton.

Jazz always seem to wait till last minute to pull off a deal, whether its the draft or trade deadline. So Jazz may still have something up their sleeve tomorrow.
