Will Burks Continue to Start?

I think Lyles is in the perfect spot to learn ....starting in a lineup with Burks,Hood,Hayward,& Favors will benefit him as well as the Jazz as he will become an integal part of the Jazz rotation joining Gobert and Favors.Who really thinks Withey and Booker are going to be and stay Jazz players into next season.
As it is now you're not seeing Lyles closing out games but still he has the best view to learn ,on the bench.
Next year it will be Exum,Burks/Hood,Hayward,Favors,Gobert w/Lyles,maybe Burke as the core.Lyles has skill and is getting rebounds and moving the ball. He's just like Exum last year ,under a short leash by Coach Snyder on how much he gets to do.

He's getting more comfortable and I've seen a big increase in his physicality/rebounding. I'm impressed with how he is picking things up. He needs to shoot the open shot more imo, but I don't think he's the type that would benefit from a D League stint. Also, we need the guy to play 20 minutes a night. I don't think he kills the starting lineup as much as Neto does because Lyles doesn't end up with the ball a ton.

I think Burks or Burke should be a starter. It gets our best players on the floor more. I'd like to see Burke playing more... He's had a few games where he has struggled, but he's playing much better this year.

Withey sucks. He plays ****ty defense, which is basically the only thing he needs to do adequately.

Yeah, this should be the lineup. Neto should get 0 minutes. The shot distribution was pretty good. Burks/Hayward/Hood/Favors should all be getting 15+ shots per game w/ Burke launching off the bench.

Hayward had 22 points vs Durant in a game where I didnt even feel like he really played that well and Favors struggled vs Adams, so when this lineup plays less talented teams, it should dominate.

I like almost everything in this post. I don't think Burke should start. Everything else, though.

Yeah I just think one of them should start. I'd like to see Burke play more than he did last night. I get why we left millsap out there for last nights matchup but I'd like to see trey getting those minutes in the future.

...agreee. Man, whatever offense Millsap had last year has completely vanished. Sucks.

Milsap just needs to be told to not do ANYTHING on offense. If the ball is passed his way, pass it back immediately. He is a total screw-up on offense. Give him a Bruce Bowen tape to study religiously.

How do the refs let Adams get away with being so physical? Leaning on people the way he does -- it's like holding them. Plus he's constantly grabbing people's arms. Ridiculous. I see GS players doing the same. Why are the refs letting them get away with so much physicality?

So far as Millsap. He should never put the ball on the floor unless absolutely necessary. He played good defense but he also made some costly and horrible turnovers. What was he thinking?

His offense should be so easy... catch the ball... if open shoot the three... if not pass to another wing immediately. I'm not sure why Chris Johnson doesn't play over him. I like the way the guy moves and he seems to make plays in the extremely limited time he gets on the floor. Not hitting his shots, but not given much of a chance. He is really decisive on offense.

Not sure what Quin sees in Neto. I would say defense, but his defense isn't good enough where he's a difference maker. Yeah, he's probably a better defender than Burke, but it's negligible.

Neto is good at defending people who have a suspect handle, which isn't prevalent among NBA PG's. Versus everyone else he is average and against athletic or big PG's, he is below average.

He plays close but non-threatening defense. Guys just shoot over him but it looks like he's playing close defense. I don't have high hopes for Neto but a lot of euro guys take a year to figure things out... I'm not sure he'll be a good backup but I'm not giving up completely on him.

FWIW - Neto's clearly above-average at jumping passing lanes. He deserves an adjustment period too, can't kill him for what he does on his first try defending starting NBA PG's that's not fair, it doesn't matter that he's starting, he's just a 23 year old rookie.

I kinda think this is being done on purpose tbh. Silent tanking strategy, been calling it since the summer.. If Neto pans out as the 3rd string PG moving forward, Harpring and Boller will talk all about the great experience he got starting..

I like the plan if thats what it is, its devious and just might be the best course of action. The Jazz don't just have the Warriors to fear in the west. These matchups vs OKC and the Spurs are kinda telling tbh.

If Neto keeps shooting 38% from 3 he's not going anywhere.

I'm just a few minutes into this 1st Q and felt the need to stop it and already declare that the Jazz would've been better off starting Alec though.

To me it's like the other teams know they can pounce on the Jazz early. Or like if they stumble out of the gate, there's nothing to press about because the Jazz won't pull away.

It's not so much about what the offense or defense looks like with Alec, it's what the opponents defense looks like vs Alec as opposed to Neto
. Simply put the defense can play Neto on their heels for the most part, When Alec's got the ball on the perimeter he can draw so much more attention in a split second. Also when the shot clock is running out they'd be so much better off with Alec in the game -- A younger me who really cared about the teams performance on a day-to-day basis would've really hated this, because Alec is obviously better, and its early in the season. Plus with Rudy out, I'd think it'd be all-hands on deck.

Probably more than negligible: note that Neto always guards the PG, TB often does not. I think it is part of the reason Neto has been starting.
