Punch Bowl Re-Filler
With Utah falling behind Denver to 9th, Gobert still out and the ugly realization that we have terrible backup bigs, no solution at PG, a wings who can't shoot straight (Hood) and another wing, our "franchise" player who goes 1-5 and then 4-11 when we really need him to step up, I think it's time to acknowledge that Utah could very well be headed towards the lottery. Oh yes, did I mention a "sit-on-his-hands" GM who has done virtually NOTHING to help the team, despite having a **** load of cap space the last two years?
If not for the weak WC, the Jazz wouldn't be near a playoff spot. If they were in the East, they'd be tied for the 4th worst record with Washington. How do I think DL will react? He'll probably look to deal Booker for a future 2nd-rounder instead of acknowledging his draft and FA mistakes and workintg to strengthen the bench and starters. Nothing in his prior actions suggest he or the Jazz organization are willing to spend money. Jazz have been 28th in team payroll for last year and this one. Frugality is nice for families to practice, but it doesn't work if you want a playoff team.
The good news is that if the season ended today, Utah would be tied for the #10 pick. The bad news is Lindsey likes agile non-shooters with his lottery picks. The Jazz DNA is apparently guys who would make great ballerinas, speak softly, but shoot bricks,
And yes, I AM calling out Lindsey. It's time for someone to step up and say "the emperor has no clothes." I hated the poster formerly known as KOCBegone. But it's VERY tempting to change my name to LindseyBegone, Dennis needs to start doing his damn job, There's NO excuse for relying on a PG who had been a crappy shooter in Europe to be our starter, a guy who had barely played in Europe to be our backup to Gobert and a lousy shooter in college to be a significant contributor at two positions he hadn't played. It was a recipe for disaster and we're reaping what DL sowed.
