Point is you can win like that sharing the rock, look at the 82-83 76ers, they split up the scoring between an aging Dr. J, Andrew Toney and Moses Malone, won 65 games and the chip.

Aside from that, I agree with your premise. The Jazz have $33 mil in cap space next summer and a ton of picks to trade. There is potential to add two studs there (Derozan and Conley?) that will push them up to the Clippers tier. We all know how unlikely that is to happen, there just aren't any good teams to match with and there aren't any good free agents who will move the needle enough.

LeBron was clearly the #1 option on those Miami teams.

It does demonstrate, however, that even a #1 type player needs a good supporting cast.

I agree, Hayward is not a #1 option, but neither is 99% of the rest of the NBA. So that's hardly the criticism some seem to want to make it out to be. The problem is that the Jazz have never given him a good supporting cast, as witnessed by how traditionally Utah's offense has fallen off the map whenever Hayward exits the game.

The current version of the Jazz, even if they top out their potential, is probably no better than a second round playoff team, but outside of the Spurs, Warriors, and Cavaliers, who i currently? (I realize, somebody else must make the Conference Finals, but that will be more because they are better than the rest of the lot, not that they are a Championship caliber team.)

Edited to add: Our problems currently do not involve Hayward, but that both Hood and Burks are badly underperforming, Lyles isn't ready to contribute much, and Burke is pretty much who he always has been. Oh, and Gobert is injured. Just imagine how crappy this bunch would be without Hayward.

I think if we could pair a top 10 PG with Hayward/Favors/Gobert, that would be great. That is far more realistic too. Hayward is much better when he doesnt have to be on-ball constantly and a great PG would do him wonders.

What top 10 point guard do you think is reasonably available?

Look, if he could be traded for an elite player, I would listen. I just don't see any on the table.

We should focus on signing some actual players who can help him instead the likes of Neto, Ingles, and Booker. Also would help if Alec Burks and Rodney Hood could ever learn how to play consistently.
