UTA-PHI "Out with the old, in with the new" Trade idea

The aim here is to add a good young player, thats serviceable right now. Who's also locked into a CHEAP deal for the next 3½ seasons WHILE adding to the flexibility for the offseason(aka cutting fat)

-This trade brings another young PF, That'd lock the Jazz into having 3 good young PF's for a few seasons at the cost of less than a Max player..

-The other 2 incoming pieces are both shooters that could stick, but also are both expendable.. ones a 6'8" wing that turns 25 soon, he's 255/643 (40%) from 3 in his 2½ seasons in the league, and signed thru next season at a mil per.. the other's a sharpshooting PG that will be restricted this summer.

Trey Burke, Tibor Pleiss, Trevor Booker and Joe Ingles for Richaun Holmes, Isaiah Canaan and Hollis Thompson. Both teams obviously have tons of picks to balance it out further.

Which leaves something like;

Neto/Canaan/Exum*
Hood/Burks/Johnson
Hayward/ Thompson
Favors/Lyles/Holmes
Gobert/Withey/ (Holmes/Favors)

Thats aprox 53mm in salary for next season. Without including Canaan or Chris Johnson and including the 2016 1sr round pick.. they'd have 12 players under contract, one of whom Is Hollis Thompson and he can be cut for a pittance .. before the trade the Jazz have about 59 on the books for next season(including the 2016 1st rd pick) on 13 contracts.

I'm pretty sure this is a damn good deal. I concocted this **** while smoking on a fat J of some sour D

Whatever
Trade our scrubs for their scrubs? Sure I'm down

I don't think either team should or would do it. I like Holmes though.

We would be left with everyone crying how our bench can't score and how our we are too young and how we can't close games and how we don't have a point. We do that anyways, but it would be worse. Holmes was my sleeper in this draft and he looks the part so far. Nice piece. Buy Trey is starting to get minutes in the fourth and he is one of 3 players that we have who can score more than 2 points in the 4rth quarter. Canaan, Holmes, and Thompson will not bring us any closer to closing out games.

What in the dorkus do you mean? Smoking some fat J of some sour D sounds. The 'D' is for Richard, right? John Thomas? Willey?

But SOUR, fat J?

Thats what they do already, this provides a different look, clears back contracts off the books and reduces the team salary, and opens another roster spot, possibly 2.

Thompsons averaging almost 9ppg and Canaan 11.. Holmes is scoring more than Booker in almost half the minutes..

No, this hits the reset button on the bench is all. Plus it takes away the best player we have off the bench for 3 young, unproven folks. Anyone can get big numbers in Philly. See KJ McDaniels who was a baller in Philly (averaging 9.2 ppg w/ Philly) and now he can't even get off the bench in Houston. Booker rebounds and brings toughness. That is all so don't rate him on scoring. If your proposal were Holmes and a second round pick for Booker, then that's a decent trade for the Jazz and Philly gets a player who will bring some experience. But that doesn't seem to be their goal and we don't need another second round pick.

Your overlooking clearing Pleiss and Ingles contract next year. Trey off the books adds more $$ to spend also..

Unproven to who?? you or me? I'm sure we differ on these opinions, they'd all have plenty of chance to showcase their skills in a Jazz uniform before sesons end - is this a low-risk or a high-risk move?!? ... to me their certainly not unproven considering their salaries/experience/production, i'd argue they've proven they belong on NBA rosters.

Y'all know I'm the biggest Holmes fan around, but I'm not sure about the Burke to Canaan swap, will have to think about it some more
