Go after Toronto's 3 first round draft picks.

From https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed

"2016 first round draft pick from New York
New York will convey the less favorable of its 2016 1st round pick and Denver's 2016 1st round pick to Toronto"

"2017 first round draft pick from L.A. Clippers
L.A. Clippers' 1st round pick to Toronto (via Milwaukee) protected for selections 1-14 in 2017, 1-14 in 2018 and 1-14 in 2019;"

Toronto can trade their own 2016, 2018, and 2020, or 2017 and 2019.

None of these picks project to be anything special, but the New York pick should end up just outside the lottery with a slight lottery chance.

Toronto is in a spot to make a deep run. Is there anything we can offer to strengthen their bench to entice a couple firsts away? I'm not sure Booker is an upgrade to Patterson or if Trey and Joseph are a wash. At least Booker rebounds well and Trey can hit a 3.

I would offer Burks in a heartbeat for three first rounders, but I'm afraid his value here is so over-inflated that nobody would like it.

On the flip side, if we could somehow pry Derozan and Lowry away from them for Burks, Burke, Exum, the 5 first rounders we can trade plus the 11 second rounders then I would be in heaven. Hell, I'd even throw in Hood to watch Lowry-Derozan-Hayward ball it up.

Burks for three 1st rounders? Toronto would hang up in a heartbeat. Not sure they would do one tbh. They have some great chemistry going right now and can pick up hella assets wit those picks.

Not that I disagree entirely but you are greatly overvaluing mid-late round picks. We bought Gobert for $3 million cash; Toronto isn't getting anything for their own picks or the Clippers one, and they aren't getting much more than a solid role player for the worse of New York and Denver.

This is another example of how DL messed up last summer not adding talent in FA. A guy like Rajon Rondo could give them true championship hope. Their bench is pretty much equivalent to our crappy bench.

Burks and DeRozan would be redundant.

I disagree. It depends on what other pieces you have at wing, It'd be much easier to pull off with a PG that can really shoot 3's too.. having a player like Rodney Hood between them certainly works, and you could have another gunner on the roster easily.

I'm of the opinion that Alec can play some PG though, and DeRozan can play both SG and SF.

I'd actually do this deal thats presented, I doubt Toronto would though. Then I'd run up the price on Beal and DeRozan this offseason, Kent Bazemore would be a viable plan b after that..

Burks and DeRozan would be redundant.
They wouldn't be on the same together.
Look at the op's post

So as you can see, Burks goes to Toronto and derozan comes to utah

I see no scenario where Toronto would want to blow it up and if they did they could get a better haul than that (see Celtics, 76ers assets)

Ok
I was just responding to it being said that having Burks and derozan on the same team is redundant.

It was never proposed that they be on the same team

I thought he proposed Burks for 3 1st rounders the sentence before but may have misinterpreted.

Ok. Think I remember that too. You are probably right and yes, Toronto with Burks and derozan doesn't make allot of sense

Burks and DeRozan would be redundant.

I agree with this. I don't know why Toronto would want Burks when they have Derozan.

#1 Derozan can't shoot threes, Burks can. Burks is a potential 40+% 3 point shooter, especially on a team that runs a proper offense.

#2 Bench depth. Toronto needs it, and they need to rest players like the other top teams are.

#3 Injury protection. Redundant on a team making a push is a good thing.

I like this idea best because Durant. We can give like a dozen first round picks for Durant. Why would he want to play anywhere else? They get picks. Durant gets max dollars. We can afford. Durant gets championships. Durant takes back MVP. We get championships. Every one wins.
