I forgot my password for the last few weeks but I need to say this Celtics loss hurts! The Nets loss was brutal. The Jazz have what it takes to be a playoff team this year. It's obvious. Getting Burks back will be huge. Hood and Hayward both won't shoot so poorly the same night too often like they did against Boston. Shelvin Mack played well tonight but I'm not sure I agree with Coach Snyder totally shaking up the PG rotation. The Jazz were on such a good roll with Neto and Burke before All Star Break.

The Jazz were on such a good roll because their schedule was weak as hell. They still barely pulled out wins at home against a severely struggling Bulls team, the Nuggets, and the Bucks.

I hate this statement. Getting at top 5 guy outside of top 3 or 4 is extremely unlikely, but it's not impossible to get a really, really good player outside of the lottery. . .

Giannis Antetokounmpo = 15
Dennis Schroder = 17
Rudy Gobert = 27
Jae Crowder = 34
Draymond Green = 35
Kawhi Leonard = 15
Reggie Jackson = 24
Jimmy Butler = 30
Isaiah Thomas = 60

Outside of Hood and Gobert (who the Jazz drafted) any one of these guys would be a godsend for this team right now. Hell, Kawhi Leonard or Jimmy Butler paired with Hayward would have been elite on both ends. Hopefully Hood continues to grow and develop into the Alpha scorer that his potential suggests he's capable of. It may suck to miss out on the top 2 guys, but there's 28 other teams in that same boat. Jazz need to draft the best guy that they can at each spot and they'll continue to get better and more deep. It only takes one star player to turn an entire franchise around.

I really still think we're going to be alright. We'll make the playoffs this year. Team has room to learn and grow. Burks will be back. Mack will cut down on his turnovers. Rudy's back to his old self. Favors needs to step it up a bit. Lyles needs more playing time. But I think we'll keep improving.

I hear what you're saying, but there comes a point where missing the playoffs simply is not OK. There's only so much rebuilding a team or its fan base can take... we can't be in that perpetual rebuilding mode... there comes a point where either the team has to significantly improve or DL needs to weave his magic and get us a game changer.


I still think we missed a trick last year when we could have had Reggie Jackson ....

There's only so much rebuilding a team or its fan base can take... we can't be in that perpetual rebuilding mode... there comes a point where either the team has to significantly improve or DL needs to weave his magic and get us a game changer.

But, we can't "skip steps." That's what our genius GM says. So we get a lottery pick this year, then a lottery pick after Hayward opts out (and DL gets nothing in return). Actually, Jazz will likely back into the playoffs as the 8th seed. The only competition is Houston and they're not better than the Jazz. Make the playoffs and lose every game to the Warriors by 30+. And everyone will call that progress. DL will say he really likes our young players and the biggest acquisition will be getting Exum back. All is well in Utah until we all realize that the starting 5 (with a ****ty shooting PG in Exum) and a weak bench is never going to contend. And the next rebuilding phase will begin in 5 years.

Scratch that. The Jazz will just continue on as a perennial 7-9 seed. There is ZERO incentive for the ownership to do anything. DL has a job for life. There is NO media to criticize the team; the fans are passive. And there isn't a Larry H. who is passionate about the team. The board has dollars and cents as it's goal. And how does DL continue to keep his job? By maximizing profits. Keep the payroll lean. If he were to take a major chance and it backfired, he could take the blame and lose his job, So play it safe. It's a cushy job,
