Following 2016 potential draftees

I still can't quite get a handle on Murray, Hield, or Rabb, though I'm starting to come around on Rabb. The disparity between guys like Jimmer and Stauskas to Devin Booker and Redick make it hard for me to evaluate these guys and I keep second guessing myself. Hield especially since there have been sooo many 4 year players taken in the lottery who have stunk.

I think Murray is a great prospect. I think he might be the closest comparison to Damian Lillard in this draft.

Maybe more McCollum than Lillard, but not like either IMO. They're all bad at defense (I actually can't remember if McCollum is a decent defender or not).

Lillard and CJ are very athletic, Murray isn't. Murray is an undersized 2, I don't think he's much of a PG. Murray is good, but he has a lot of questions IMO. This isn't a very good draft, tbh.

Jaron Blossomgame looks like he could be decent. Late bloomer, fairly old for a junior. He's pretty much just a 3. Athletic, not a great defender but could become one.

CJ isn't that athletic imo, but is better with the ball than Murray. I think Murray can play some combo guard and is tall enough to be a two if needed. I'm not sure we've seen much of him PG wise because of Ulis.

Like CJ, Murray absolutely relies on change of pace and misdirection to get to his spots. Lillard can get there with pure burst and speed. From what I've seen, Murray will need to get a much better handle. CJ has that now, and was pretty good coming out of college, iirc. Anyway, I think CJ is a pretty decent comparison.

Murray doesn't have the handle to play 1 yet, and is an undersized two. His wingspan hurts him. He's obviously good, but he's a #2 or #3 option at best.

He's great coming off screens. I think he's bigger than CJ... It's a fine comp I'm just not sure there is a really good one just yet. I think he might be that level of player. I wanted to compare him to Klay but the length is not there.

I still think he's big enough to be a two full time and may be able to play some point. Everyone says he can't guard the pg... Almost every college player sucks defensively when they come in so who the hell knows. If JJ can become a decent defender so can Murray.

I agree... If you get a good second or third option that spaces the floor for others that is pretty good in this draft.

I think he goes third in the draft, so he will be out of our range.

Murray is more athletic than you think. Definitely finishes around the rim better than McCollum. Has the same standing reach and max vertical as Lillard coming out of college. Remember Lillard was mostly a jump shooter in school. He worked a lot on his body and became more of a dunker in the pros. Lillard was also considered a shoot-first guard with mediocre defense. It wasn't clear he'd be a starting PG. I think there are some comparisons there in terms of impact and ceiling. Murray needs to get stronger, like all freshmen, but he'd be a great offensive player with the Jazz and could play either guard position.

Yeah, kinda moot, since we're not likely getting him.

I really like Luwawu. Great size, looks to be a good shooter and defender. He'd be in our draft range too.

Wade Baldwin is underrated. His length is ****ing insane, he's a pretty good athlete, he can shoot the 3 ball, and gets to the FT line.

I think Lillard is still shoot first. His playmaking revolves heavily around the threat of him shooting. Basic passes. And mediocre defense was probably more on a college level. His NBA defense has been very lackluster. If Portland was better/had higher expecations, we'd see some Harden-clips starring him.

Time to see if Brandon Ingram can have a great tournament and vault himself into real contention for the #1 pick. However, my alma mater may have something to say about that.
