I remember Darrel Griffith (towards the end of his tenure) Mike Brown, and a young Thurl Bailey. Also I remember when the Jazz traded Jeff Malone. The guy on the news announced, "the Jazz have finally traded Malone" the was a long pause and I remember thinking Karl Malone had been traded and getting upset. Then he cracked a smile and said, "they've traded Jeff Malone for the exchange of Jeff Hornacek. Good memories.

U realized a lot of this resembles Gobert. He got dunked on tonight, was in position to contest and didn't even lift a finger, and has a hard time holding onto the ball.

He wasn't perfect and he could've worked harder at his craft, but he's one of the better centers in jazz history and was an elite rim protector, and usually shined in the biggest moments. He got dunked on a ton, but so does Gobert. Such is the life of good rim protectors. I often felt better about the defense when he was in the game. He wasn't as bad as u make him out to be.
 
Of the scrubs, I think the one that amused me the most was Othyus Jeffers. He was a 6'4 wing with no outside shot whatsoever and an average athletic ability. Through intensity and commitment, though, he played very big.

I think he was worst than I made him out to be, I could name 5 centers who were better in Jazz history I would rather have Jarron, CB, Handlogten,Fuller,Massenburg, OP. If we had those guys during our Championship run who knows ... we could have won the title. When Ostertag was on the floor it was like we were playing 4 on 5. When I think of low points in Jazz history I think of Ostertag.
 
Is cb for Carlos boozer? I might be mistaken but I don't believe he is a center. I'll agree with you about Collins though...greatest ever. He definitely could have taken a few charges.

I would like to submit this into evidence, pretty sure I just saw him score about 40 points and block at least 6 shots in only 90 seconds. I'd like to see any of these other centers do that.

Fwiw ostertag might be my least favorite jazz player of all time not because he was the worst player... I just hated watching him play, hated his personality, hated his contract, and he grossed me out.

Sorry I should have specified it was CB for Curtis Borchardt (sp?) Carlos Boozer surpassed Ostertag's skill level when he was 2 years old playing with a nerf hoop.

To answer a great question and probably many others to come, this is only part 1...more are to come, also I was 10 years old in 1998 when he stopped playing for the jazz...not much I remember from those days, besides watching the finals and deciding to love the jazz from then on. You'll notice most of these players are from the early 2000s and on. But, I am trying I have a friend or two that might contribute some older players for the next post.

I heard Osterag was a better punter/field goal kicker than he was a basketball player. Talk about a definition of a scrub. Good on him for the Kidney thing though.
