What's new

Trey Lyles - Career-high 22points! highlights!

Why boozer... Why always another Jazz player? I just don't see it really.

I was thinking the same thing during this game. It's not only the poise that he carries but he reminds me of an old man on the court. Not in the pejorative sense but in the sense of being a wily veteran who plays the game in a very cerebral manner.

This is part of the reason I used to compare him to a rich mans Juwan Howard!!

I threw up in my mouth when we drafted Lyles. I will fully admit that I've never been more wrong about a Utah Jazz draft pick. The disdain I felt for Trey was completely wrong and misguided. He is going to become a straight-up MONSTER.
I've never been more right:)

How about a Suns version of Boris diaw?

You obviously know your ball, pgab, but Howard is an awful comparison. Their games on offense are nothing similar. Can we just settle on my more fluid/athletic Keith Van Horn and move on?

I'm impressed with Lyles. I had no opinion when we drafted him, as I don't follow college ball (I find it boring and nearly unwatchable), and I was not impressed with him early on in the season. His performance as of late, however, has made me very optimistic about his future.

Going back to the Booker v. Lyles debate, IF Lyles becomes the floor stretching, facilitating big man we see the potential for him to become, how do you all feel now about him relative to Booker, assuming both fulfill their potential?

No we can't just 'move on'!! I'd say Trey is closer to Tim Thomas than KVH too!

No comparison is going to really be perfect and I was 6 when Howard got drafted so i haven't followed him as closely as some of the other players I usually use for comparisons.. but if you look at tape you will see some moves, fakes and passes from Juwan Howard from mid-range that Trey's doing from the 3pt line. Both have nice floaters in their arsenals for bigs too, and of course tremendous balance..

I'd post a highlight video of Howard but the uploader for some unconscionable reason chose an Apathy(rapper) song for the mix and I'm pretty sure every single track Apathy's made is fract worthy on this site...

I was watching some Beasley highlights this morning and although the shot selection isn't the same, the realllllllly fluid movement and ability to shoot off the dribble and floater game sort of reminded me of him. Trey has been awesome lately. As he gets stronger he will be a monster if his defense comes along even a little bit.
