What's new

Sign Joachim Noah as a FA and draft either Korkmaz or Luwawu...would that be kicka$$ good

Seems like Hibbert ineffectiveness is more a function of the league leaving him behind.

Both of them were viewed so much differently just a few years ago.
Defensive centers are still very sought after.

We can afford to pay Noah for next season and probably the season after that. So offer him a 20 mil one year deal. He'll get paid and get a chance to be a part of winning team. In two years we will be paying Gobert and Hayward. In 3 years the only players at old salary scale will be Burks, Trey Lyles and our new draft picks.

As for minutes, I see Gobert playing 28 minutes a game as a positive. Noah can play 20 as the backup center. This will also keep Favors minutes down around 28-30 a game. Lyles will just have learn to be effective in 20 minutes night. And given our injury histories-so one is going to be hurt. So at teams we will need everyone to step up.

In another thread I advocated going after Biyombo in a similar vein; but Noah would fill our teams veteran leadership void.

I also see a Lyles/Noah combo as being very effective off the bench together.

I read somewhere that Noah was not happy with his demotion to the bench. I like Noah's toughness and his passing. I think he may be the best passing big in the NBA. He was putting up some big assist numbers before he got hurt. However, if the Jazz got Noah then the bench would be Mack, Burk,SF draft pick/FA, Lyles and Noah. Now that would be a very good bench.

Noah would bring some much needed fire to the team. Korkmaz or Luwawu would be two nice wing prospects. Both bring different
things we need to the table.

I'm all for this scenario.

I'm sure there are some that will flame me for this but a very underrated player that could be picked up cheap and be willing to play a 4th big is James Johnson of Toronto.

He's a strong defender who can defend back up bigs and he's fast enough to defend wings (especially the Durants and LaBrons of the NBA).

I think this is more in line with what will actually happen.

You want to make a big who plays less than 20 MPG our highest paid player?
