Larry Bird screwed up and didnt offer hill his 4th year on his rookie contract so all they can sign him for next year is 2.3 mil.

He averaged over 12 pts per this year. He is a good 3 pt shooter. Shot over 50% in the playoffs. He is the kind of man who gives it his everything. Lunch pail type of attitude.

Trevor Booker is a lunch pail type of guy who shoots nearly 10% better from the field, 2 more Rebounds per game and nearly .5 blocks more per game. They both hover around 30% from 3 for their careers.

I posted it in the rumor thread but I just can't fathom why I'm hearing so many Jazz fans say "Why not Hill"? The dude had ONE decent playoff series. He averaged 4.2 PPG this year and doesn't rebound awesome for a 6'7" guy.

Yes Booker is older, but he's still under 30 and it's not like this team needs to get younger. In fact, we need some grizzled vets. You're enamoured with a guy because he a very breif playoff run where he shot the ball good. Booker's a better player. Period. The Jazz can do much better than Hill.

Booker and hill play different positions

True. Theres only an inch in size difference, but obviously Hill is playing much more out on the wing.

That being said, I would expect Utah to be able to pick a wing player at their current position in the draft that could come into the NBA as a rookie and give you more than 40% FG and 32% 3pt and 4.2 PPG. They can certainly do better in the Free Agency market.

Just my opinion, but there's absolutely nothing that Hill does that makes me think Utah should consider him. Maybe Larry Bird knew what he was doing when he "screwed up" and didn't pick up the option on him.

Actually a 52% fg shooter. I will admit when i looked up his stats it pulled his play off stats. I agree he is not worth spending much on him. I am a little worried that he is just trying to get a better contract. Will he keep it up.

There is the possibilty that he has finally "gotten it". He might be the steal of free agency or the albatross.

Looking at Solomon hills stats vs joe ingles shows that hill is a little better rebounder and ingles a little better shooter and everywhere else they are about the same.
Ingles will get 2.2 million next year. How much will hill get?

If the jazz are healthy next year and only have an nba average amount of injuries then hill won't even be a rotational player for us.

So I say sure, let's acquire him if he can be had for like 5 million or less per year.

I do think he would be an upgrade to ingles, but not a big upgrade

Wait, do jazz fans think he is a good player?

I think he is a funny cheap benchwarmer.

He is a good player. Focuses on his role, works very hard, and is a defensive minded player. Every team needs good role players, and he is a very good one. With Mack and Exum, use Burks as the 3rd PG and bring over a strong wing like Hill instead of another short PG like Neto or Burke.
