Looking for a new team

It's very clear, and I highly doubt anyone would try to argue that the Millers would rather turn a profit than win a title.

Larry H. stated on several occasions that the primary goal of the organization was to be in the black each year. Not sure if he changed his stance in the last few years he had Karl and John, but by then it was too late; the window had closed.

But that's the goal of every professional sports team. LHM was trying to keep the team in Utah. What owner wants to lose money?

Dallas Mavericks according to Forbes:

Current value: $1.15 billion
Revenue: $168 million
Operating income: $30 million

Well I know when they were winning more games they were losing money cuz they were super deep in the LT for a while.

Miller has taken it to a whole new level. He hasn't made money. He's made over a billion dollars.

Wanna back that up?

He bought the Jazz for 14 million. It's now worth over 800. He owns MLM Arena. I'd bet that's worth a couple hundred million. And I'm sure he turn a profit a couple of years. We know he took home at least 8 million last year by not improving the team.

OK, so you're using team valuation, which would probably include the arena. I think we were talking about year-to-year profitability. Based on "I bet" and "I'm sure" you're just speculating about that.

Someone was criticizing the Millers for trying to be profitable. I'm just saying that's a goal of all pro teams and I'm ok with that. They're running a business. I would begrudge excessive profit tho, especially with the sharp increase in team values in the NBA. The question is, does profit get in the way of the Jazz assembling a contender? I don't know if anyone here can answer that without making a lot of assumptions.

The Millers own the arena. Does any other owner own the arena?

They own outright the Jazz. No loan payments.

Their payroll was second lowest last year?

They are top in attendance.

Forbes has Gail valued at 1.6 billion, claiming most of that comes from the Jazz. And none of this includes all the money they make off the Jazz selling cars, movies, etc

We know this guy, right?

Grantland had the Jazz profiting between 14-30 million a year. Forbes has their profits around 30 million a year.

The Millers will never leave because the Jazz are the center of everything they do. And until we stop throwing money at them for a mediocre product...well, don't expect anything to change.

It was at least $10 million, and Miller Co most likely received/wasted zero dollars from the NBA's revenue sharing pool after their decision to not acquire a single asset in the off season. Under the Current CBA, $10 million is the maximum profit an organization can make in order to receive revenue sharing.

They obviously knew they would make way more than $10 million last season so they stood pat and sold a playoff push. They could have been content with a $10 million profit, not including all the add-on revenue that they can hide from the NBA, but they got greedy instead and sold you all a bill of goods.
