Sabonis: Convince me he won't be a huge liability on defense like Fat Al, Love, Boozer and Okafur.

Seriously. I know he can score and is improving his range and can rebound. His length is actually pretty good iirc. So why is he in the 8-16 range? I presume shaky defense. This scares the hell outta me so for those of you who have seen him play, convince me he is going to be solid on defense too.

He has short arms, he's a PF in the NBA, he can't guard on the perimeter. There is a slight chance he will be able to shoot.

He is a bust. Stay away. Big, slow, not able to rebound around athletic players, and doesn't have three point range. He is a better shooting Arajujo or whatever that thug from BYU was called.

YOu presume shaky d? Why? He isnt that bad on defense. He just has ****ty length. Racist smh.

Pretty much none of this post is true. Good job.

I think he will be OK on defense, but he lacks an ability or length to be a defensive playmaker.

It really depends on if he is able to develop his feet to guard on switches and quicker PF's. If he can do that, he will be a solid defender. If he can't, he is in an awkward place where he has to play more center to get on the court, yet provides no rim protection. He also has to carry over his glass dominance, which could prove difficult given the upgrade in length, athleticism, and size he is going against.

Sabonis is one of the few guys that I would be unhappy if the jazz took at 12.

I don't think he'll be a huge liability on defense but I don't think he'll have that great a career either.

Definitely not worth a lottery pick, I don't know why he's rated so high. He'll be a decent 4 off the bench with an overall value like Nick Collison.

Is he really that much different than Klove?

To me he reminds me a lot of Klove or the guy in Boston who broke his shoulder last year. They're basically the same player.

So, my analysis was almost word for word from Locke.

He also said that Sabonis is tough to gauge because nothing he did in college translates to the NBA. One phrase he used was "didn't improve through the year but his competition got worse."

So, bag on me if you want, but my info comes from the people who drafted Rudy, Hood and Lyles...soooooo...

But didn't he have a big game vs. Utah in the NCAA Tournament?

Who the **** cares how he played vs Chris Reyes? Come on now. Yeah, he played balls out vs Utah. Hats off to him. But going up vs a gassed Poeltl and Chris Reyes...I wouldn't put too much stock in that game.

Gassed or not Poetl is supposed to be taken before him in the first round.

Not sure anymore on players like Sabonis.
Look at Warrior-Cav series
Bogut and Love can't stay on floor very long.
It's Green and Thompson size players that are having success
League is now going small, quick, strong, versatile
Jazz need to look for Draymond Green type PFs and Cs

Draymond is Draymond because he has high basketball IQ. Look at Derrick Williams, hit his 3 pt shot at 55% for Arizona, 7'1" wingspan, could jump out of the building. Seemingly the perfect modern NBA PF. Busted at #2.
