Article - mock draft SB Nation - Jazz makes trade and selects..

Lol. He was targeted by offenses in college and doesn't show any physical attributes that would lead one to think he can improve.

I am sorry bern but this comment is asinine. Defense has a lot to do with desire. Everything i have seen is murray is a hard worker. He is competitive that means he wants to be in the game. That means playing defense.

With his ability he can be a passible defender. Enough to not be a kanter or a harden.

The think murray has that i like the most is the "it". That thing that drives plauers to be the best. To want the ball in the clutch. To want to be the best player on the floor every night.

Murray has "it"

Pick 2 or even a 3rd(draft and stash 9 even Thon Maker for the Stars) or trade out. I do like this trade though.

that said....I did see that Teague may be moved on draft night. And I'm curious as too Locke saying one trade from the deadline may be revisited and the people we have worked out fit pick #21 range better then #12. Intresting to me.

There are a few problems with this deal, obvi, but the biggest one is that all these picks come in the same year. Gotta spread that out.

I'd say yes and no. I'd trade Hayward, but instead of a butt load of picks this year, I want Brooklyn and Boston's picks next year.

Lol. "Defense is effort" is the most cliche ******** around. Yeah, defense takes effort. It also takes skills, athleticism, IQ and size. Try as hard as he can, and JJ Redick will never be more than an average defender.

So let's get to Murray. I rip on Calipari a lot, but if there's one thing he's exceptional at, it's coaching defense and getting effort. I'm not saying that Murray didn't try on defense, I actually think he did try. He's competitive as hell. That's why it's such a big warning sign. Excellent coach, good effort, awful results. He's not big enough to guard 2's, he's not quick enough to guard 1's.

I have never, ever seen a bad college defender become even an average pro defender. Murray will be a sub-par defender even with effort.

In essence we trade our best perimeter defender and best offensive player for hopefully JJ Redick-type whose defense is much worse than JJ Redick's.

It's not that I disagree, but the problem with this rationale is that we will be repeating it for every player on our team in the coming years. At what point do we actually build a contender?

The hope is that eventually the Jazz are good enough to make a case for staying. Maybe that happens in the next year, but right now, they can't make that case.

Was JJ Redick one of the absolute best players in the country as a freshman? I don't know, but my feeling is probably not.

I would do the trade. The more I watch the NBA, the more I realize star power or no power. Although I would trade the farm for Simmons, I'm very confidant Murray will be a star in this league. He reminds me of a bigger Kyrie. Pairing him with Exum is perfect.

Lol...a bigger Kyrie?! Kyrie who can get into the lane at will? I love you guys.

He has heart and he's clearly hungry.

He was the last player he watched so clearly they are similar. To me he's like shaq cuz I just saw him on a gold bond commercial and shaq and Murray both play the basketballs.

Any trade with Boston for Hayward better be for 3 and the Bkn pick next year... Or no dice.

Hayward may be a bigger star than anyone in this draft.

Play style not perfect match. Unbunch your panties

Their play style is radically different, unless if you're referring to their complete disregard for defense.

Murray is an excellent shooter who will struggle to get into the lane against larger, athletic defenders. If he does start at SG, that would be about every SG in the league. It's precisely why I think his best role is a scoring PG off the bench, a really good 6th man. Minimizes his offensive and defensive weaknesses, IMO.

I just think unless his offense is really hitting, he's borderline unplayable in some playoff situations, much like Enes Kanter. And as good as Murray is on offense, Irving is on a whole different level.

Average defense, decent size of next to a bigger pg or sg, good shooter and driver. Not a true pg.
