Jody Genessy Deseret News - Hayward "wants better talent around him"

who argues that Hayward took a small step back last year?

I don't know that anyone has. My point was that it only a small step back, and he was still quite a bit better than 2 years ago, before he got the max extension, just a little less efficient. I have high hopes that he takes another step forward this coming year, as he will have better talent around him if they stay healthy.

I didn't see any quotes from Hayward, maybe they can be shown.......Jazz have a winning team ,they just didn't have good health.Plus Hayward has 6 #1 draft picks playing with him ,thats alot of talent. This team is growing together where the sum of them is going to be pretty damn good this year.Add GHill ,sign maybe Montieunis to replace Withey, keep Ingles, and maybe pick up Dudley and the Jazz will be pretty good and capable of winning against anybody jus t by their defense keeping them in every game.

Hayward took a big step forward 2 years ago. Last year I felt it was a small step back,

I agree. At least offensively.
Last year he averaged less points, less assists, less rebounds, less blocks, and less steals, shot a worse field goal %, worse efg%, and worse three point % and got to the line less than the year before (all per 36)

pace adjusted?

I don't care if he has fewer rebounds, points, assists, or even steals next year. Hopefully others around him are getting those stats. I just hope he is more efficient, especially in the 4th quarter. Thats where he struggled the most imo. Hopefully having more talent around him, he won't press as much and will take the game as it comes.

pace adjusted?
Maybe, maybe not. I don't know how to do that.

I think that with the three point percentage, field goal percentage, and efg percentage decreases pace don't make a difference though right?

No, Fish only cares about per 36 for some reason because it fits his narrative.
Not at all. I don't know how to adjust stats for pace.
I don't even have a narrative. Someone else said that Hayward took a small step back last year (nothing to freak out about btw) and I decided to compare his stats this year vs last year and posted what I found.
They are not way worse or anything. Just a little worse across the board. I'm sure there are many reasons why that's the case (injuries, running so much, playing so many minutes, other players stepping up more, pace, coaching, tougher schedule, new baby).... there is no way that he didn't improve last year. Impossible. Every season for Hayward is better than the last no matter what.

I think he took a big step as a defender and overall took a step forward.
