Hmm, I see it the opposite. Jump on the big stuff early. Try and strike a home run. If that fails there will be some cheaper free agents or a trade that we can make later. Mid tier are the guys that will get overpaid and sign early. No reason to try and get in a bidding war over a bench guy.

If I'm DL I make a call to several big guys (their agents anyways) and just ask but I'm moving off of them quickly. Everyone has space and will still have space... When a few players get snapped up their will be a plethora of teams still with space and few players to bid on... That's when the desperate auctions will happen and people will make the worst mistakes.
