Portland is striking out pretty hard too. The best they could get is Evan Turner... for 4/70!!! WTF!
 
I like what we have done so far. Smart moves for a team in win now mode. JJ was a good pickup for depth, but he looked overmatched physically in the playoffs. He will help us win season games though. Low risk, some reward.

As we stand right now, I don't want to max Hayward. However, he could prove me wrong this year. It all depends on what we do as a team.

I think it has been a great off season so far. DL gets an A and now all he has to do is clean up the PG position by getting some more assets. I was a little bummed about giving away the 12th pick but after pondering the decision, I love the idea. Jazz don't need any more young players especially with next years draft.

The Jazz got to proven vets with good reputation as solid pros. Hill is replacing two back up type players so we are automatically better at the PG position and when you throw in Exum coming back. That is like worth 4-5 more win easily. Now one could argue that Booker minutes are going to go to Lyles which is an improvement overall. Can't wait to see Lyles in SL.

Now Joe Johnson is in the mix and he is going to take C. Johnson, Ingles and even Booker minutes so more improve at this position. Man I am so excited about this year.

Have you looked at his stats from the playoffs ?
And you are I'm sure aware of his isolation and end of game prowess ?

Your argument would make sense if it weren't for the fact that the salary cap is going from $70 million last year to over 94 million this year and then likely up to 107 million next year. Salaries are being inflated across the board. Who's to say what 30-35 million even buys anymore? Spend five minutes looking at the contracts that have been agreed to in the last few days and try to justify again how the Jazz just let Hayward go. It's a different world now as far as salaries go. We all knew it was coming with that TV deal, but it's still surprising to see those numbers come in.
 
I'll give DL an A. He acquired George Hill for the #12 pick (in a draft I wasn't enamored with) and traded Burke to open time for Exum. To me, these were good moves because they addressed a point of concern without breaking the bank. The fact we got something for Burke without eating a contract in return or waiving him is all good by me. Hill can knock a three, has big game experience, and is a fine defender. Dude also happens to like Coach Q? Yeah, sign my *** up.

I think at least, to me, it has a positive psychological effect. As much as I respect Burke's professionalism, he was still a "dude" of this guy:

And yes, I understand several other players were also "Corbin" guys, but I have an irrational hatred of Corbin as a coach. Just let me have this, okay?

JJ's signing adds depth where we needed it and gives punch to our 2nd unit with a guy who knows how to close games. In comparison to some of the other deals this offseason, he didn't break the bank to do it as it's a short term and comparatively easy to swallow deal.

I'm perfectly fine with those moves. He's gotten very good talent that wants to be here while maintaining financial flexibility for future considerations. It also sends a very clear message that rebuilding is over. We are going to try and win now.

Hayward and Gobert and Exum aren't going anywhere. If the Jazz make a move, they will try to package Favors and Hood for a star.

Jazz are thrilled with Hood. Burks would be on his way out before Hood.
 
I have NEVER liked the Burks fit... no matter how much in the minority that opinion has been.

Salary cap could also go down in a few years. (In fact have seen posts from very knowledgeable posters saying that the cap is expected to actually go down again in a few years)
