KD to GSW... I hate those guys

Meh. Sort of.

Malone and Payton were well past their primes.

KD is still MVP material.
Weren't shaq and kobe kinda good players in their primes though?

I was comparing the star power of that Lakers team and this warriors team in case you missed it.

OKC just traded to build more around KD. Had KD had any balls, he would have beaten GS last year or vow to do it this year. Either way, KD is leaving the best team I might have ever seen a star abandon to chase a title. This is unprecedented. We have never seen this before.

And I don't blame stars for uniting to win titles. This move is just complete sellout. A prime star leaving to join 3 other prime stars and the Finals MVP from just 2 years ago.

They didnt trade Harden to build more around KD. Thats a silly argument. Thats not how you win. Its actually the other way around. You trade a bunch of assets to get 1 better player than all those assets combined. They did it to save money. Plain and simple. He wanted the max. They didnt want to pay it

I dont blame people for being sour because this just means your team wont be winning a title any time soon. But its really hard to argue its a bad move or weak by him. Not in this era. If he doesnt do it, then someone like Lebron would, and he would watch another opportunity slip away.

Id much rather want my Legacy to be joining those guys and winning 6 rings, then to be the guy who chose the harder way and maybe win no rings.

Its not like this makes Durant any less of player. We will still know how great he is/was.

Behold this gem of a tweet from Durant in 2010.

"Now everybody wanna play for the heat and the Lakers? Let's go back to being competitive and going at these peoples!"

He done gone and become the biggest bitch in the league.

I'm not sure I concede this point without deeper consideration.

Besides star power, what strengths would Karl bring to the table? Remember; he was given the ball by some silly point guard a lot. I don't recall the triangle offense does not really highlight the PF position.
Malone averaged 13 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists that year for the Lakers.

Pretty good numbers that they missed when he got hurt

I dont think its weak. You cant blame players for wanting to win and not trusting GM's and team owners. They make bad decisions all the time. I wpuldnt want to put my legacy in their hands. The Thunder already showed whats more important, the money side or winning side, when they traded Harden for nothing basically. Its either being cheap or incompetence. Neither of which as a player I would want to roll with. As bad as Harden is on defense, he still would have made them a lot better had he stayed. That probabaly still bugs Durant.

Yeah, we know it as fact that three guys who need the ball in their hands a ton would've co-existed just fine and been a better team even though their front line would've been a complete joke without Ibaka.

Warriors are doing a pretty good job with small ball. They could have been the Warriors before the Warriors. They already showed they could coexist too. They went to the finals with it. Ibaka turned out to not really matter all that much after all. They would have been better with a cheap shot blocker and keeping Harden. Regardless of what we argue. Its how Durant felt about it anyways or how he perceives what would have played out.

It might not have been a great combo. Maybe only one ball wouldnt have been enough for them, but its different with the Warriors. A lot different. Its a way better fit. A lot less dribbling around and a lot more passing to wide open guys for quick shots. Its going to fit Durant a lot better. Im sure he can see that.

As crazy as it sounds, Durant might average more ppg with all that new room he has to work with.

Im sure thats a big part of why he wants to go there. He is going to play with smarter players.

Yikes.

The only way to beat them now is to go big and try and pound the hell out of them inside.

The NBA needs to do something to stop this. These super teams kill competition and will kill ratings.

The NFL is so successful in large part to the parity. Everyone (except for Browns fans) feel like they have a chance.

Meanwhile, does anyone outside of Cleveland, San Antonio, and Oakland feel like they have a chance next year?

Kill ratings? Just the opposite. Just broadcast GSW or Cleveland every night. Silver is probably hoping Lakers get back on track soon. All the league needs is 3-4 great teams. Sure, the others don't have a chance. But it doesn't matter. Revenue just keeps increasing. Look at the past 10 years. How many different teams won the title? Did it hurt? Not a bit. The league just entered into a mega broadcast deal which will push player salaries and owner profits to an all-time high.
