What's new

After Golden State/San Antonio/Cleveland are there any teams that are clearly better than the Jazz?

Portland/Grizz/Clips/Toronto/Atlanta/Boston? Are those teams a step up from the Jazz or are the Jazz now at par or better with them now?

What is your particular top 10 power ranking in the NBA after all the changes and why?

Show you mine if you show me yours.

Fair enough-

1. Golden State - duh
2. San Antonio - Gasol
3. Cleveland - didn't get worse
4. Clips - treading water
5. Jazz - deepest team outside of Golden State/San Antonio
6. Portland - Evan Turner isn't much, but lots of organic growth capable here
7. Toronto - Kept DeRozan
8. Boston - Added Al Horford - could sneak past Toronto
9. Atlanta - Dwight could make them better than this if he has it in him- we'll see
10. OKC - Still have an MVP level player and some pieces- this may go down if they trade him

You think the Jazz are the 5th team in the league? Come on, dude. That's some homer stuff.

Not sure how the pieces fit yet, but Vogle and Orlando could make some noise in the East. Minnesota and Milwaukee are both talented young teams with a chance to make significant jumps.

There are a lot of team in the neighbourhood of the Jazz if they pan out best case.
But in my experience projecting best case when it didn't happen yet is a bet that's gonna fail more often than not.

1) Dubs
2) Cavs
3) Spurs (they're gonna drop in wins without Duncan, West, Diaw-- not sure I believe in the defence of LMA + Pau)
4) Clippers
5) Toronto
6a) Celtics
6b) Jazz
7) Grizzlies

That 4th seed is fuggin ours. Think of the versatility of our line-ups

Defence:
Hill
Exum
Hayward
Favors
Gobert

Threes:
Hill
Hood
JJ
Hayward
Lyles

Bench scoring:
Exum
Burks
JJ
Lyles
Diaw

Fun 1:

Hill
Hood
Hayward
Diaw
Favors

Fun 2:
Hill
Burks
JJ
Hayward
Lyles

etc.

I am absolutely salivating if I'm Quin. This team is 13 deep-- and this is all WITHOUT a projected increase in playing ability by Dante!

Dressed:
Hill/Exum/Mack
Hood/Burks
Hayward/JJ/Ingles
Favors/Lyles/Diaw
Gobert/Withey/

Undressed: Pleiss & Neto

The only fringe NBA players our the ones that can't even be dressed from night to night. We are 13 deep in true NBA talent, and are bringing in three players with tons of playoff experience.

1. Jazz
2. Jazz
3. Jazz
4. Jazz
5. Jazz
6. Jazz
7. Jazz
8. Jazz
9. Jazz
10. GSW

I'm trying to be an *******. But it's tough. I mean do you want me to say the Raptors or Grizzlies or whoever are better? Because I honestly don't think so. I really like our team and depth.

BUT

Put it all together for once! God damn. There is no reason we shouldn't be winning 50+ games. But **** just always seems to go wrong. I'm willing to say that on paper we are a top 7 team, but we need to play like it.

Exactly. Bring in Larry Johnson for a month long boot camp in August.

Minessota, Philadelphia and Milwaukee are the ones I would watch out for. Maybe not this season but next season or the one after that, but still. ;)

And remember kids, if you ever use Jazzfanz App, use it safe.

1. GSW
2. SAS
3. CLE
4. LAC
5. MEM
6. UTAH
7. BOS
8. ATL
9. TOR
10. PDX

I agree with this mostly. Well done. I probably have Toronto up a little higher (maybe tired with the jazz)
I think we have a shot at being better than the clippers and grizz but don't think it's likely.
That group of clipps, grizz, jazz, Toronto, Boston, atl, and porty are all somewhat interchangeable imo.

In before ncoloradojazz comes in here and calls us all homers and says the jazz suck and that most of the league is better than the jazz..... Basically trolls the hell out of this thread.
While the mods look the other way.

My tier's:

Championship level (The only teams with a real shot):

Golden State
Cleveland

Borderline Championship level (These teams don't really have a shot to win it all, but will have a ton of regular season wins):
Toronto
San Antonio

Wrongly still think they are elite (Teams that can win 50 games but not contend for a title):

Los Angeles Clippers (Although I do think the Clippers probably fall back into the lower level)

The upper playoff teams (seeds 3-6. The good teams, but the not title teams. These are the 46-50 win teams):

Heat
Hawks
Celtics
Jazz
Memphis

Other potential playoff teams (Your 40-45 win teams):

Charlotte
Pacers
Blazers
Houston
Minnesota
New Orleans
Dallas
New York Knicks
Washington Wizards

The "can sneak into the borderline playoff teams with Westbrook"

Lakers - I don't see how he ends up anywhere else. Who would choose Boston over LA? That's crazy.

Then the rest are the crap.
