What's new

Are the Jazz Through making moves?

I think all the major moves are finished. I could see a player getting cut or traded to free up a roster spot but that's about it.

Rumors are Steve Adams for a pick an cash plus a nother unnamed asset. OKC is going full philly rebuild mode an wants draft picks. I am hearing DL might be able to pluck Adams this summer an Westbrook next.

Why would OKC trade a young talented player like Steven Adams? He's on a cheap rookie contract. IF they were rebuilding he would be the kind of player they would want to keep. There's no indication the Thunder are rebuilding anyway. Westbrook said he plans to be in OKC this year. He's been working with Oladipo and other teammates this off season. He hasn't asked OKC for a trade and has given no indication about his intentions for free agency next off season. They have no reason to move him unless he asks for a trade or someone makes a crazy offer. All rumors about him possibly being traded are coming from outside of the state of Oklahoma, which says a lot.

Would Mike Scott (I think that's his name. Dude from atl) fit the bill?
Is he available?

He has some legal issues hanging over his head.

I think we wait and see who gets cut when rosters move down to 15 then decide if we like Bolomboy/Pleiss better. We may swoop in and snag someone like we did Ingles (was cut by the clippers I believe).

That's just what the Hebrews thought.

I wouldn't mind seeing a true banger with a nasty attitude up front for both the edge that this team could use and in case Lyles is getting tossed around like a rag doll. I guess that could be Diaw but he doesn't really fulfill the first criteria. Someone sort of Bogutish.

I think they'll get rid of Burks at some point. Perhaps not during the offseason, more likely by the trade deadline, and that would be fine by me. With Hill and Joe Johnson being added to the roster and the recovery of Exum, there is clearly a logjam. Burks didn't develop as much as anyone would hope, is not that smart as a basketball player, is very inconsistent in terms of shooting, and probably would not be happy playing 15 minutes per game.

There should be some interest in him around the league, I suppose, since he is on a reasonable contract - by the new standards at least - and might still improve somewhat. There might be some team willing to have him playing the role of scorer off the bench for 25 to 30 minutes a night.

I don't think Burks is a bad player, though. He just has not improved as much. His PER last season was 14 - the same he had during his rookie season - and he "peaked" at 15.8 in 2013-14, which is very... so-so.

Finally, the reason as I see this move being done during the season rather than now is to see if Johnson can really contribute as expected and if Exum made a full recovery. Burks is insurance right now.

I agree Burks is the asset that's tradeable. Packaged with a bunch of draft picks, maybe the Jazz can improve his roster slot.

Who knows? They have really made so many off the chart moves this year, who's to say what they have left? Targeting Free Agents that were in their prime 10 years ago is genius. I highly doubt their done. DL and KOC wont stop till they have every arthritic retiree, senior free agent and the elite of the 2000 draft class at their disposal. You never know, it could be Bengay cream one day, and metemucil the next day. This is an exciting free agency!!!!!!

I think that the Jazz are done right now. But if the team struggles a little that would be the route I'd expect them to go to try and improve.
