2011 draft.....

Also I have decided, unless he shows me more, I do not want any part of Harrison Barnes. His game is almost 100% predicated on him taking difficult jump shots. He is terrible on the catch and shoot, and does not get to the rim that well. I hope he has a great tourney so its him past Derrick Williams (in other teams eyes) and gives us a better shot at landing Williams.

Just a fantastic talent. Makes me wonder if we can draft Williams to play the 3 and have AK play the 2.

Yeah, the crazy thing is that he has legit post moves and footwork. Most tweeners cant do that, but he can legitimately do anything on the court.

Jimmer Fredette is not that bad of a defender as everybody says. BYU relies on him for a lot on offense and to do that Fredette has to save some energy for the offensive side of the ball. After watching Fredette today and almost every other game, the more I watch him the more I like him. For those who say he is selfish and is not a good passer he got seven assists today and would have had about 13 if his teammates would hit their open shots. Look who he has to pass to Abouo, Emery, Hartsock, and Collinsworth not the greatest players he has to work with and still managed to get seven assists and he should have gotten a lot more. Also everybody says he is unathletic, while he is not a freak athlete by any means Fredette shows some athletiscism whenever he goes in for lay-ups over defenders. He also grabbed four rebounds that were pretty much loose balls showing off his hustle. Fredette has dunked in a game before, and if athleticism is such a big thing for point guards why did John Stockton succeed show me a video of him dunking? You do not need to be that athletic to play the point guard position in the NBA and Stockton is the perfect example of it. In no way am I comparing Fredette to Stockton I am just comparing their athleticism and how you do not need it to be a point guard in the NBA, Stockton was one of the best if not the best point guard ever.

Yeah, it might be a mistake passing on Fredette with the second lottery pick. I mean if someone I like better falls that's one thing but I don't think anyone will and Fredette may still be there. And to expound on Cousinsfan11's post, Fredette is crafty if not athletic. But I think the comparisons to Nash are more accurate than Stockton. Nash is not known for his athleticism nor his defense and yet he won the MVP.

Right now a lot of people think he's backup material, but he's 6'2" and could be starter material. It's just in the offense BYU runs he's expected to score like a SG.

So nice you had to post it twice. Anyways, I agree with you. Unless someone were to fall we should grab him. Watched my first full game of his today. That 30 foot set jumpshoot was sick. This guy may be the best shooter in the world.

Like I said in another thread, you are who you can guard and Jimmer can't guard anyone. What's the point of having him on the court to hit 40 ft jumpshots when he gives up just as many if not more points on defense (can you imagine how Parker, Westbrook, Terry, Lawson, Paul, Felton, Curry, and Williams would destroy him? Especially with our interior defense? And that is just pg's in the West.)? I know, I know, BYU doesn't want Jimmer tired on the offensive end so they tell him to take it easy. Just like his high school coaches did. Just like his junior high school coaches did. Just like his brother told him growing up. What you are saying is you are going to take a kid who completely dominates the ball on offense, and had NEVER played on play on defense, and you are going to ask him to give the ball up, and play defense and you think he will do that overnight? Not likely. So, as far as Jimmer goes, he is an amazing college player. Probably one of the best ever. But the days of him taking 20 shots a night are over.

Forgetting about his lack of athleticism, defensive knowledge, height (his future is as a sg and 6'2" sg's don't excell in the NBA), lateral quickness, knowledge of running an offense in an actual system, just the fact that you are asking him to relearn the game of basketball doesn't bode well for him. He may overcome all those odds, but I wouldn't risk it. Not with Nolan Smith sitting there (ironically enough, a pg that got more assists, less turnovers, acutally ran an offense, plays defense, averaged the same amount of points per shot - 1.4, etc).

Who don't those guys destroy?

Who has the two time MVP award winner from Phx defended in his entire career?

I guess you are missing the point. The Jazz aren't looking for another PG to run the system. The Jazz need an outside threat badly for both first and second unit. So far I'm sure Jimmer is a good 13th pick for the Jazz with all his flaws.
