What's new

2011 draft.....

i think we should be focusing on begging to bring carlos boozer back to utah, and if not that trying to clone him by getting al jefferson to collect sweat off him with a que tip during low post play.

What do you all think of this comparison for Jimmer..... Mark Price!

Good shooter from what I remember was a scoring pg who could shoot lights out, and didn't get many assists wasn't that athletic at least no more than Jimmer.

I actually ran that comparison fredette to mark price a few months ago to lazy to look it up though but I agree mark price comparisons are spot on.

Well if Jimmer keeps playing like he did today then he will not be available at 12-14 with the Jazz pick. I thought today he looked like he could be a PG in the NBA instead of an undersized SG. I still have a problem with his shot selection sometimes but that can easily be coached away once he realizes he doesn't have to score the majority of his team's points.

I couldn't believe this was the same BYU team that I watched against SDSU and Wofford. If the rest of the team plays this well then perhaps BYU can win a few more games. Florida vs BYU is going to be a great game.

I think his defense and perceived lack of athleticism will keep him from being drafted any higher than late lottery.

The shot selection should be pretty moot, as I would think he would know the NBA has much higher caliber players than his teammates at BYU.

Mark Price is an interesting comparison. I've seen some comparisons to Chauncey Billups. I also would make a comparison to Bobby Jackson. Not quite as athletic or thin, however.

Cowhide, I totally agree with you. His poor shot selection came later in the game with about 6-7 minutes to go and they were up by 15 so he could take those shots, I am not sure he would take those kind of shots if it were a closer game. I am actually very impressed by the way he converts in the paint and by the free throw line when he gets fouled. Already has NBA range so no need to worry about that when he plays he hits NBA threes and then some! I could easily see BYU making the Elite Eight and even the Final Four which would help Jimmer Fredette's stock tremendously and would definitely solidify himeself of a top 10 pick and possibly a top 6-7 pick.

A few notes from several games--

Farihed (sp?) had no offensive game. His body looks like we hope Jeremy Evans will become. Thin bone structure and ripped.

I was tooting Brandon Knight's horn earlier and he had a good game today. Despite being 6'4" or 6'3" he lacks the athletic ability to adjust around the hoop or even blow by people. Defensively he gets by on his good fundamentals. In other words I don't think he has what it takes to be a top tier PG in the NBA ever. He could still be a good PG. But his game will always be finesse and smarts based. I also think he is only going to be at best average on D.

Terrence Jones on Kentucky has some rough edges but he makes a lot of big plays and does so many things so easily. I now think he is going to make a good pro somewhere.

Evans will never become as strong as Farihed is, not even close to the same size frame.

The jazz would be out of their damn mind taking the Jimmer wit the nets pick. At 13 ok,but I will be pissed if the do not land of the talented sf or even Alec burks in favor of Jimmer.

Before Jimmer I would want any of the following:

Irving, Williams, Barnes, Kanter, Vesely, and maybe more but at least those. That's 5 guys. One of them has to fall to 6. If not, you might need to decide between Terrence Jones, or Perry Jones, or Jonas V., or Donatas, or Jimmer. But I really think Jimmer will still be there for their second lottery pick so why pass on one of these guys at the first pick?
