What's new

NBA.com's Shaun Powell has us finishing behind POR, OKC, and MIN

I am simply hyperbolically poking fun at the unwavering, yet all to often bandwagoning, belief in what the prognosticators have to say.

For everyone else please Google the term "hyperbole". A free lesson for you in English terminology.

He'll conveniently never see this post. Happens a lot. Pretty poor showing from someone who considers himself an "intellectual".

I have never referred to myself as an intellectual. I just call it as I see it and sometimes I'm wrong too. I just find it interesting that you use the term "intellectual" as a quasi-insult when the next post is from this guy:

there has never been a more apt nickname than LoGrade when Log posts content like this.

Talk about quasi-intellectual.

So go read all the posts about which "NBA" writer said what and see if there isn't plenty of drooling over the foregone conclusions rising all too often to a crescendous circle jerk

Perhaps, but when no one got it one of two things is most likely true.

1. You delivery was off as no one got it. It's not like 2 or 3 people missed it and the rest laughed with you

or

2. It's wasn't hyperbole and you are just now claiming so to save face

Now personally I don't think you're a #2 type of guy and am willing to give you #1. You say it was hyperbole? OK, but your delivery sucked and has sucked for weeks.

Either way I look forward to enjoying the season with you.

Go Jazz!!! CHOO CHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The problem LogGrad98, is that people keep on giving you the opportunity to explain yourself further, and you keep on denying it. Don't bitch about people not understanding you when you refuse to expand on your comments.

EDIT: Ah, I see you finally answered somebody. Good job.

please tell me which JFCers think we are winning the championship this year. Or, anytime in the next 2 or 3 seasons. You keep saying this word, but I'm pretty sure you are the only one saying it.

BTW, this is my 4th or 5th attempt to get you to clarify your comments. The previous attempts asked about why your consider George Hill to be part of the "old vets" that won't be much help.

Thanks for the clarifications.

So even though you've been one of the bigger dicks I'll condescend to answer you.

First I'll wait while you Google "hyperbole" since you seem to be able to differentiate when it suits your purpose otherwise you treat it as a foreign concept. Go ahead, I'll wait.

OK good. As far as hill is concerned I've already said he is a step above our current and former crop of point guards. I just don't see him as the Moses leading us to the promised land. I would love it if he were but so far in preseason he has looked pretty good. Still remains to be seen what he does and how he fits in during a full 82 game season but you never know he might become the perennial all star you seem to think he already is. I'm just more skeptical in that regard. Let's see it first, then I'll believe it.

1) Who has said that Hill is going to lead us toward the "promised land"? Also, I'm assuming you're referring to the "promised land" as a championship. Please correct me if I'm wrong. In addition, who has said that we're going to win a championship? Seems to me that most people feel that we're a vastly improved team, with an outside shot of being a contender, bc in reality, nobody is much of a contender outside of GS.

2) Who has ever mentioned that George Hill is/should be/will become a perennial all star? I just haven't seen that anywhere, maybe I missed it.

Would love to hear from you here. Thanks.

Fwiw, replacing Shelvin Mack/Raul Neto/Trey Burke with George Hill is more than a step above. Hill is actually a good starter, the former players mentioned are all ok backups at best. Now not only is Hill just overall a better player than those guys, he actually fits what we want to do here perfectly. That counts for a lot to me, the random internet poster giving his opinion. Sure a guy like Teague is a better scorer, but he doesn't fill a role here as well as Hill does due to Hill's better shooting ability, much better defense, and ability to be either a leading player or role player. Anyways, all of that is just to say that you're understating the importance of the addition of George Hill.

I understand your need to ridicule when your belief system is challenged. I thought you were above that but religion does weird things to people. I was shooting for hyperbole nor humor. Kind of appears you think they should go hand in hand or something. If you find humor in it, great, if not, idgaf. It is still a valid criticism of the "blinds follower" attitude of much of the board in regards to the positive press we have received. By the way go back and find the beginning of all this. It more or less started with me stating I disagree, then getting slammed with all the "log" and pessimist insults right off the bat. In my experience that kind of visceral reaction normally comes from religious folks when their belief system is questioned and they have no other way to argue it.

Not a single poster on this forum has EVER suggested that Hill will become an all-star once, let alone a perennial one. George Hill leading us to the promised land? What?

One bad-take after another. So bizarre.

In some cases, with some posters, I think you have a valid point. There are other posters though who try to have a somewhat educated discussion with you, in depth on the players, and you seem to have a tendency to ignore those. Blaming this on religion though? That's pretty rich. How about we stick to the discussion here, yeah?

It would be very on-brand if Log started a thread in GD complaining about Millennials/Generation Y
