The system they were running was give the ball to the guy with the huge mismatch and let him go to work. Isolation is an effective system when you can get in situations like that.

I think a weird decision was trying to go over (moving) screens 30ft away from the basket. That gave ballhandlers a ton of space to shoot/attack with Gobert hanging back in the paint. Maybe they know something secret, but last time I checked Lillard wasn't Steph Curry.
But good ball movement and patience from Portland. The Jazz rotated inside very aggressively and very early. Portland used that to kick it out late and move it around the perimeter from there a lot of time trying to get better shots while the Jazz were always closing out half a second too late.

Obviously there's some intrinsic value in adding their experience, I'ma still say that you can do better with $18,000,000 than Diaw and Johnson though.

Diaw's a sieve defensively and Joe is very streaky.

Joe took 2 shots in the last 3 minutes, an iso on the left baseline that missed and a 3 pointer that missed with the Jazz down by seven. If anything, we lost because we didn't get the ball into Joe's hands more.
 
Based on what we saw last night from JJ, when the Jazz finally get Hayward back, it will be the first time in my tenure as a diehard Jazz fan we have ever had that sort of dynamic player coming off the bench. JJ should abuse second units.

Specifically, the offense crumbles in the last 5 minutes. Way too much forcing a specific action and not free flowing and taking what the defense gives. The 4th quarter offense based around Joe's postups were great until they adjusted and sent more help. The Jazz just kept trying to force though.
 
Yep, I'm excited what Joe can do from the bench. I'm also interested in what a hill, hood, hayward, johnson, favors lineup could do, once we are fully healthy.
