Do the Jazz have any top-5 players at their respective position?

Who do you think the top-5 players at each position are? ESPN completed its annual ranking of the top 100 players. It's nothing to obsess about, but interestingly no Jazz player was ranked in their top 30. It's hard to think of the Jazz advancing far in the playoffs without a single top 20 player on the roster.

Quick Take

Center: Towns, Cousins, Horford, Jordan, ?? Gasol/Drummond/Whiteside/Gobert?

Power Forward: Davis, Griffin, Green, Aldridge? Porzingis? Favors?

Small Forward: Lebron, Leonard, Durant, George, ?? Giannis/Hayward/Butler/Carmelo?

Shooting Guard: Harden, K. Thompson, DeRozan, ?? McCollum/Hood/Fournier?

Point Guard: Curry, Paul, Westbrook, Lillard, Kyrie, Lowry? Wall?

Not sure what "better" means, but the effect Gobert has on the game is already top 5, even if his all-around skills may not be.

I think the Hayward-George debate could be real again, as his game continues to improve and George may be pretty much who he is. The view that he is at best a complementary piece/ 3rd option looks increasingly foolish. He has been better than George so far, but sample size is way too low.

Favors is top-5-ish if/when he gets back to form.

Hill will not be top 5 for full season but was for first 7 games. But the top 5 pgs are unreal and Hill is definitely top 15 at a loaded position

Jazz Motto: The WHOLE is worth more than the sum of its parts.

This.
Good thread and good tough question to answer.

The simple fact that favors, hayward, gobert, and hill all are in the discussion for top 5 at their positions is amazing (plus a damn good bench) and tells me that if this team cant get a top 5 seed in the western playoffs then there is something wrong. Im looking at Quin. (that is probably the first time i have really questioned him btw)

DL has done a masterful job assembling this team.

Maybe i shouldt have said hill is in the discussion. As great as he has been for the jazz, that position is just probably too deep to include hill in there. And OP didn't even have kemba walker in there who is playing just about as good as any point guard in the league.

Towns, Cousins, Whiteside, Gobert, Jordan. Drummond is right there, but I'd rather have Rudy. Horford is a nice player, but not quite at that level.

Hayward. He's not as good as George (dude's proven too much in the playoffs imo) but he's 5th ahead of those other clowns you listed.

Not IMO. Too many other legit two way players on that list.

Did you not see Gobert enter the game and hold the Magic scoreless for 9 damn minutes? Who the hell else in the league can do something like that? How many "good offensive possessions" is something like that worth? And it's not like he is chopped liver on Offense, he is averaging 10 a game on a team where we have plenty of scorers.

Hayward/Gobert.

Agree with the other posters that having all our starters in the conversation is pretty incredible and bodes well for the post season.

If Gobert had better hands he would be top 5.

If Favors was more consistent he'd be top 5.

Basically impossible for George Hill to be top 5 with how many great PGs there are. Curry/Kemba/Lillard/Westbrook/Harden, it's basically impossible for Hill to penetrate those 5.

You Gobert's dad or something?
