Exum needs to play over Mack

I think he will be ok. To put it in perspective, the Miami Heat are one of the better defensive teams.

You're so right. I think people might be discounting this team because of their losing record and perhaps the fact that Wade and Bosh are history. But this is a proud franchise with a championship coach and some good players. Whiteside might be the second best defensive center in the league this year.

A very young player being inconsistent after being put in inconsistent position doesn't make him mentally weak or a pansy or whatever else people are calling him. It is expected especially for a player that say out 2 of there last 3 years of his career. He is going to have ups and downs. That doesn't mean he has no fire, isn't playing hard or this made up idea of having it/killer instinct.

He is going to have ups and downs this year. He is going to look great at times and lost others.

Dante is struggling because he's playing not to make mistakes. On both ends

Don't disagree with this at all but this needs to be layed out at Quin Snyders feet. We're seeing Exum regress right before our eyes the last 6/7 games .I don't think it's any pressure of playing in the NBA but as Snyder loses trust in Exum ,Exum is losing trust in Snyder by his erratic handling of his play.

Is Exum eligible for D league? That would clear a roster spot and could bring in a guard or wing to help the rest of the year.

It's painful watching him play so uptight and so obviously worried about the results. Quin really is the one who should be managing this better, part of a coach's responsibility is to instill the utmost confidence in his players, particularly an inexperienced project type player. 2-3 weeks ago he was undeniably better from what his rookie season was and quite a few people here were expressing hope about him. To see the difference in a few weeks, that is something Quin has to shoulder. If he isn't going to play him in a consistent role fine, i have no problem with that, but send him to the stars to actually play with some freedom for a while. Being told he's not got the trust of the coaches and team and then asking him to play in spot minutes in different roles is making it worse, he'd be better off just not playing for a while. It's even more a bummer about the injury and missing last year as he's missed the chance be ready for the win now stage and is just redundant to the teams requirements at the moment. We'll find out in 2-3 months whether he's got the resiliance to get through this.

but giving up on this kind of project player at this stage considering where he's been is insane.

He seems afraid to be benched immediatley after some mistakes. He has to play freely.

I think that beginning the season behind Mack hurted his self confidence, without mentioning being scapegoted after the four-game losing streak.
