What's new

Gobert has blown away my expectations of him ...already

He's a good enough athlete that he doesn't get taken out of the game when other teams try to go small. Instead he just dominates even more. He's able to get up and down and even guard a little out towards the perimeter. That may be what's most impressive.

No one should be surprised if they have been paying attention. Rudy has the tenacity and work ethic that you know he will do everything he can to be as good as possible. Sky is the limit.

Well I'm surprised. Last year he made 0 offensive improvements compared to the prior year. Just about every offensive stat was down even his free throw %. It was looking like he might be Tyson Chandler, DeAndre Jordan limited on offense. So I'm stoked and blown away at what he's doing now, to be honest.

that injury was no small thing. He played below 100% for, what, like 60% of the season?

I still remember going to a jazz scrimmage the summer when we drafted Gobert and being blown away by his effort and intensity. He was everywhere on the defensive end. Covering up every mistake by his teammates.

I think he was pissing off most of his teammates too and scaring some of them with his intensity during a simple scrimmage.

Pretty sure it was Jerry that mentioned something similar about Rudy when they had pre draft workouts with him.

Better length than AK + similar athletic & offenense-wrecking ability + a desire to kill the spirit of opponents + the drive to improve every year = worth every penny.

Most important improvement is the ability to hit FT's. Isn't he leading the team in FT attempts. Last year, Quin couldn't play Rudy down the stretch in tight games because teams could just hack him. This year, he isn't a liability. As a result, Utah has the defense and rebounding late in games they were missing. I'd like to see him add a hook or other move. If he could be a threat out to 10-15 ft, look out!

Gobert has a ton of pride and almost an unhealthy drive to be the best. I can't wait to see him in a playoff series.

Quin has finally tailored the offense around Gobert (and Diaw). It has been beautiful to watch.

Hello 1992 and no thanks. I'd rather watch the show the Clippers have been putting on for years than the show Al Jefferson put on. Rudy is DeAndre on steroids, caffeine, PCP, Testosterone, ambition, and HOF potential. He doesn't need the ball in his hands to dominate.

Ew no.

If Rudy is far superior to DAJ (he is) then why the **** are we pigeon-holing him into a role that he's already mastered without even finishing his rookie contract yet?

Ever since Gobert signed the extension he has been playing amazing. He knows all eyes are on him and he's playing some amazing basketball.

Any bumps on the greatest center of all time thread?

When it's all said and done, historians will rank Gobert as one of the all-time draft steals in NBA history with the likes of Karl Malone and John Stockton.

I've officially put Gobert as my starting center in all-time line-up. Also likely moving Hayward into the 3 spot and could potentially move Hill to backup PG, depending on how things go.
