Where does Hill/Hood/Hayward rank?

I can point to 6 games I think the Jazz would have won if healthy.

v. Sactown
@ Charlotte
v. Miami
v. Chicago
v. Memphis
@ Denver

That would make the Jazz 26-7. Third in the west (only .5 behind SAS) or the #1 team in the east by a full game.

But the Jazz also won games they "shouldn't have" while dealing with all of those injuries. I don't think it's as simple as "if we're healthy, we would have beaten all of those lesser teams".

That is nice on paper. I think we would have won some of those but that is just a guess.

Teams lose to bad teams even when healthy. Collapses happen, teams get worn down or dont show up for games. We have had other players show up that might not in other games it is hard to predict.

Either way that puts us really close even if we won all of those to what the Raptors are. A couple games ahead of them but still pretty close. Right now they are a few games ahead but still pretty close. That means our teams are probably pretty close. If we are pretty close we cannot have better players at every position and a better bench.

I dont know how you can say they are better at all 5 positions and they have a better record and have made some serious noise in the playoffs. I think we have had bad luck with health but even if we stayed healthy we would have only won a few more games this season. We have been beat up during the easier part of our schedule and outside of a few games really fought hard. Raptors will most likely end up with the #1 seed in the East this year if they keep up this level of play based on all other stats and their schedule going forward.

I do think Favors and Gobert are better than their C and PF. Although closer with their C than PF. Hood is better but I dont see a way to put Hill ahead of Lowry. Hill has put up really efficient stats this year but he has hardly played and still Lowry is doing more for his team. They are the number 1 offense because of Lowry and DeRozan. I think a lineup of Lowry, DeRozan, Hood, Favors and Gobert with the depth we have behind them and our team style play and defense would be scary good. DeRozan would give us a really reliable scorer that Hayward is not. Lowry distributes the ball very well.

We have a better record than them when both teams are healthy (and burks hasn't even played yet)
Check the stats this year for hill vs lowry.

Let us play in the east.

Hill has a very limited sample size, and he's outperforming his historical numbers by a mile (which one can argue is due to the Jazz system). Nonetheless, Lowry has better numbers with over 22 ppg on 50% 2pt shooting and 44% from the 3. He also dishes out 7.3 asp and grabs 5 rebounds.

That could totally be the case. If we are just a little tiny bit better at each position and play in a tougher conference.

I think Paul/Redick/whoever and Parker/Green/Leonard are arguably as good. Westbrook/Oladipo whoever too.

I wasn't arguing all that. Just that I think the Jazz team would be several wins better if healthy all season.

But it's all ifs up till now. We are about to find out.

They played very well in the East last year that was better than the West. Hill and Lowry are the same age check their stats for last year when you have a much better sample size. Also Lowry is still doing much more for his team this year than Hill is for us. Hill is very efficient but almost every other number Lowry is putting up better.

Also Raptors have lost 10 games this year. 2 of those are to GS, 3 of those are to the Cavs, that is 5. 4 of the other losses they were missing starters.

Ya hill has a small sample size but it is what it is. That is what we have to go off with the jazz so far.

Per 36

Hill 55.1
lowry 46.9
advantage hill by a lot

3 point %
Hill 47.5
Lowry 44.4
Advantage hill by a decent amount

free throw %
Hill 83.7
lowry 84.7
Advantage lowry by a tiny margin

rebounds
Hill 4.3
lowry 4.6
advantage lowry by a tiny margin

assists
hill 4.8
lowry 7.0
advantage lowry by a lot

blocks
each at 0.3

1.4 for hill and 1.5 for lowry
slight advantage lowry by basically nothing. pretty much equal

points
22.3 for hill
21.5 for lowry
advantage Hill by a tiny bit

Turnovers
hill 1.6
lowry 2.8
advantage hill by a decent amount

Pretty darn close all around. I think hills length puts him over the top.

Give me this years jazz version of hill over this years raptors version of lowry if both are healthy.

We disagree about the east being better than the west last year.

Im not going to look at Hills stats when he played a different role for a different team.

Jazz have lost zero games to any teams at all when they are mostly healthy.

I disagree that lowry is putting up better stats besides efficiency. He is simply playing more minutes. Check my previous post to compare their stats.

^ biggest stat you skipped is games played. If Hill had put up those stats for 30 games instead of 10 I might think it is more sustainable. I think Hill is great but some of his percentages might dip a bit. Also if was scoring more and facilitating like Lowry is his efficiency would drop a bit.

Hill's been the GOAT this year but I'll be the dick and say that they might not dip, they definitively will. He's not shooting 55% from the floor for the year. No way in hell.
