What's new

Minutes/rotations

Total BS. I think burks has about the same many assists as shot attempts so far this year.
He didn't even touch the ball last night.

I have no idea how anyone can call a guy a black hole based on his 3-4 minute playing stints he's received. Did well in the Minny game... and took maybe one quick jumper, but ball stopper... ummmm

Exum should take all of Mack's 15 minutes. It's not like Mack helps us win games anyways, and playing Exum those 15 minutes won't cause us to lose games. But it does have the potential to give back his confidence and maybe (with little hope) unlock his potential.

We are still an irrelevant team in the long run if Exum doesn't pan out.

And most importantly, Mack sucks.

This. The "win now" mantra is kinda funny, it's not like we're fighting for a title, and we're good enough that we're gonna win plenty of games. Dumb to ignore the future completely.

No it's not. You dont win and you risk having Hayward/Hill leave in FA for teams who can win.

Looks like AB and Exum are going down to the d league with Neto. Stars better win that one.

Jazz are off after a long road trip, so no practice today. Exum/Neto/Burks have all barely played so they are getting a practice session before tomorrows game. I seriously doubt any of them stay with the Stars for their game tomorrow over the Cavs game.

Agree but it's kind of weird just for a practice. Exum I could see staying down there... possibly Neto too.

Still weird unless they play a game at some point. Do they need to scrimmage or something?

They just need to do something I guess. It's hard for NBA teams to practice during the season because of fatigue, but a guy like Burks probably really needs organized practice sessions against live bodies to better understand how we want to play. I could see one of Exum/Neto staying down there for tomorrow's game, but I still doubt it. The 3rd string PG still pretty important to keep on the active roster, so no way both stay down.

Yeah I just thought they'd get assistants to come in and work with them... not sure a d league practice scrimmage has more value... I'd actually like Exum to stay down and play. Send Burks and Neto back up.

Because assistant coaches arent 20 year olds who can run and practice hard. Also, coaches need days off too. They bought a D-League team for a reason, might as well use it.

We're good enough to win whatever happens with the backup role, particularly now with all players back.

i see where the sentiment is but what about the flipside ... what if George Hill gets an offer he can't refuse or wants to go elsewhere, and/or Mack gets more $$ thrown at him that we don't want to spend, and then all of a sudden Exum who's been wrapped in cotton wool for the rest of the season is thrust into that position and we take a jump backward.

I like Mack's ability to score in the midrange and his floater but the amount of dumb mistakes in the rest of his game drives me bonkers. I really can't believe there'd be any major difference in winning/losing if at the least there was some sort of split in the backup minutes, but preferably went to Dante or a split of AB & Exum.

I don't think our margin for error is big enough to ignore that Mack helps more than Exum most nights.

If Exum is our starter next year we are effed. He's not ready... If Hill left I think we'd have to bring in another good stopgap option. Rubio, Dragic, likely available through trade... or a FA option D-Will, Collison, or some other kind of crappy option.

Basically give George Hill all the money... All. Of. It.

That's the crux of it... but if we don't even if we get another stop gap PG it's still a massive hole if Exum hasn't been at least a little developed.

Mack helps offensively but he makes plenty of mistakes on both ends that to me negate his positives. If the backup mins are down to 13-15 i just don't think it's a big difference, and it also doesn't allow the chance that Exum might actually make some sort of a jump as the year goes on.

Fascinating to see what happens and watch it all unfold.

Its not that big of a hole. Idk how good you think the average backup PG is, but Mack is about average.
