What's new

WIll a jazz player get into the all star game?

I've always liked Chris Broussard...

My West All-Star reserves: Russell Westbrook, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeMarcus Cousins, Marc Gasol, Gordon Hayward

According to the guys at Inside the NBA, Gobert gets snubbed. By what metric has Cousins had a better year than Gobert? Gobert has the best stats of any center in the league. Hayward only gets in on Shaqs' list. A couple of them picked Chris Paul which I don't understand (injured). In any event, if we get shut out (or Gobert gets snubbed which seems probable), I hope we use this as motivation down the stretch.

If my knowledge about those new CBA contracts is correct, we should hope Hayward stays off the all star team and an all nba team, so he doesn't gain eligibility to get those super max contracts with a lot of length. Unless that's the only way he wants to stay in Utah, but in that case we're better off retooling anyways I think.

I've read that AS does not count.
.....All-NBA, DPOY or MVP the previous season.
.....All-NBA team or DPOY in 2/3 previous seasons
.....MVP once in the previous three seasons

Links are always appreciated.

So far, all the info I've seen has been somewhat speculative as to how things change, but doesn't provide details of exact changes. In the last CBA, making starter in AS or all NBA twice qualifies.

https://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q60

The salary in the first year of an extension to a rookie scale contract (other than for a team's Designated Player) may be any amount up to the player's maximum. This is usually the 0-6 year maximum, which is based on 25% of the salary cap (see question number 16). However, a player may receive up to the 7-9 year maximum, which is based on 30% of the cap, if he meets any of the following criteria (called the "5th Year 30% Max criteria"):

-Named to the All-NBA First, Second or Third team at least twice

-Voted as a starter in the All-Star game at least twice

-Named the NBA Most Valuable Player at least once

Demarcus carries an average offence and Rudy carries an elite defence. The league recognises one more than the other.

Yeah, I've lost all respect for those TNT jokers. Not a single word about Gobert and barely mention Utah being where they are despite being slammed by injuries.

**** those guys.

I'm not too worried about it. Those guys are on the same level as bill Simmons for me. Entertaining but not really in tune with the real NBA landscape.

They don't watch the nba, they work one night a week and casually watch big games than prep for their lone night of work.

I think it's better for us and the team if Gobert is snubbed as Gobert's chip on his shoulder grows to the size of the grand Canyon as he rages all over the rest of the NBA. It's sad but true, but I'd rather see Hayward make the team, it could make his decision to stay easier.

I have seen multiple other people say this too but I disagree.

You could give gobert the mvp award and he wouldn't slack of even a tiny bit. Dude is simply tenacious and driven regardless of accolades or what is said about him. He doesn't need a chip on his shoulder. Dude will give 110%, all star or not.

hope you are right because he might not get into the all star game. but he might become the dpoy if they don't play faves and go for draymond greene.

but for years to come he will receive plenty of accolades
