What can we get for CJ?

Since 90% of the forum wants the jazz to pick up his option what can we get in a trade for him? Can we send his 40 point outburst vs. the t-pups around the nba and see what they can offer us.

It's an interesting idea. I really don't know what the Jazz could get for him. I think a lot will depend on how valuable his contract will be in relation to the new CBA. I also don't want to do some research and find out what players near his salary and production have garnered on the market.

Personally I think both Weaver and Hayward have better games than CJ. I think we should be able to use him and maybe one of our picks and maybe another minor asset to get something solid. Worth a try.

90% of the 4 members of the clown club want him. What can you get? NOTHING! Which is more than he's worth. Have you not seen what has happened to the jazz with clank the clown on the court? He should join the circus.

I think it is unrealistic to expect more than a lateral move if we were to trade CJ. The rationale behind such a move is that hopefully both players would benefit from the change of scenery.

In thinking about it, I don't think CJ and his contract are such that you really trade him straight up for another player. Straight up, I believe at best you could get a protected middle first round pick, much in the way the Jazz got one for Brewer.

CJ could be a sweetener as an add on with Millsap or Jefferson. Not that I necessarily propose that, but that is a possibility.

All this is moot, really, until we find out how, and if, his contract relates to the new CBA.

I've included CJ as sweetener in a couple of my half-baked trades, but the more I think about the state of this team, the more I'm resigned to the fact that CJ will be back next year. Hell, I've even resigned myself to the idea that he'll get extended. There is just too little talent at the wings.

Here's a question: Would you trade the rights to Kanter (picked #6) + Millsap + CJ for Paul George + Hibbert + Indy's first (hopefully for Faried)?
This trade, plus the selection of Knight, would look pretty good.

While I am not sure just what you could get for CJ in a trade, I am sure there would be a ton of interest from other teams if he was on the block. Probably more than just about anyone else on the team.

One of the most talented wing guys the jazz have ever had. Inconsistent, hell yes, but young and learning. He needs to ignore the weight room this summer and just shoot shots.

I think there's a slight chance at a late first round pick from someone who really needs a shooter for the stretch run. That's a longshot though as most of those teams have high cap/LT numbers and we'd have to take something back. I'd guess we could get a pick between 35-40. I'd do it. A pick's a pick and this kid's a waste of life.

I never thought CJ would be "Gordon Giricek 2.0", but that is exactly what he is. The Jazz got Korver for Gordon so maybe they could get something of value for CJ... If nothing else trading him would free up 20 shots a game for someone that can make a shot now and then.

CJ isnt really a "shooter" though.

And I dont think its fair to call him a "waste of life". He is a good player and has managed to be productive in the league as a 2nd round pick. I hope we pick up his contract, and sign him again. He is a cheap wing player who is capable of playing very good at times.

If he's not a shooter, what the hell is he? Sure, he's not your protypical spot-up shooter but if we're going to categorize him as one thing, it's as a shooter. A good player? Surely you jest. I hope we pick up his contract too. And then trade him mid-season for a draft pick or two. Anyone in the league is capable of playing very good at times.
