What can we get for CJ?

The best thing the Jazz can do is not pick up his option, save the cash and move on. Kyle Weaver had been on the team for a couple of days and was able to step in and score 19 from the SG spot. It only took Weaver 48 hours in a Jazz uni to make me honestly feel like he's got more upside than CJ.

CJ has leveled off and all of his "upside" has been achieved. I think it's fair to say he's never going to be better than he is right now. Letting him walk and brining Weaver back on a league min contract for a year is a much better option.

I agree.

time to move on folks.

Along w/CJ, I want AK, Fess, Raja, and Price off this team. Memo too, if we can get anything for him.

We need to build up, not continue with this dead wood.

CJ isnt really a "shooter" though.

If he's not a shooter, what the hell is he? Sure, he's not your protypical spot-up shooter but if we're going to categorize him as one thing, it's as a shooter.

He is a shooter. We need a maker.

He is a volume scorer, and you can really only get away with that as an all-star level player. Kobe, Wade, Mello, AI, guys like that are volume scorers as well, but they are more than that as well.

We do not need a volume scorer. We need someone who has better efficiency and brings more to the table in other areas as well. Time to move CJ for whatever we can get and see what Hayward can do, imo.

I cant believe people on here actually think Weaver is already a better player than CJ, it really blows my mind.

CJ is way more mentally tough than Weaver.
It takes a huge amount of discipline to shoot yourself out of a lifelong slump.

The Jazz and their coaching staff have invested 6 years of their time and money on this guy. SIX years, that's right. And they are still waiting for him to not be wildly erratic. It would be difficult for the Jazz ego to bite the bullet and accept they were wrong about his potential. I wouldnt be surprised if they pick his option. But his rear might be firmly parked on the bench next year.

I dare say, with the departure of Jeff Green to the Celtics, OKC would pick him up.

So, if we're lucky and we beg a little, it'll be like this:

OKC gets:
CJ Miles

Jazz Get:
Washing Machine
Bag of Cheetoh's
Crap filler to make contracts work.

Sometimes terms like "better" are entirely subjective because of apples v oranges comparisons. However, one could make the argument that a player like Weaver doesn't shoot as many or more shots on his bad nights to get out of slumps is better for the team. CJ - for all his talent - is somewhere between an idiot, mentally fragile, and/or plainly selfish. And this is coming from a long-standing apologist/supporter of his.

I think his value is non-lottery 1st, two 2nd rounders or as a throw-in in a deal. A player for player would make little to no sense. This of course assumes the Jazz pick up his option, which ulimately I think is an easy call to make.

I think people would be very surprised how much interest there is in CJ. My hope is the Jazz pick up his option. A player with his talent in a contract year at 3.7 is a very good bet to make. But like every player on the Jazz, he's on the block in the right deal.
