The importance of winning the 3rd seed for this Jazz team

I also would not mind playing the Dubs in the second round so the 4th seed is fine too. I want us to experience "the best" and what it takes to beat the best and in turn, be the best. I want to see if we can compete with that juggernaut and win one game, maybe even two. I think that would do more for our long-term confidence and success than getting the Spurs in the 2nd round, because in my opinion, the final obstacle in the West for the foreseeable future is the Dubs anyway so it's a great experience for us.

Hayward is more likely to stay if we make it to the WCF. We're much more promising as a FA destination for all athletes. Come on bruh.

Third seed would be awesome! But I would wish for Memphis to be the 4th seed in that case. Have no interest in playing Memphis first round. I would expect Memphis to beat the Jazz. They are one of very few teams that can outclass us at PG and C, and they have a defense on par with the Jazz. A potential 2nd round matchup of Grizz vs Dubs is wonderful for Utah (assuming Utah can do some winning in the playoffs).

Also, Marc Gasol is getting criminally underrated by everyone not named Charles Barkley. He is one of the best players in the league. He is usually the biggest guy on the court, and he's a playmaker.

The difference of CP3 + Blake vs. our 1 + 4 >> the difference between Marc and Mike vs. George and Rudy

Jazz vs Grizz... I love Rudy but Gasol is a tough match-up. Gasol is playing as good as any big man in the league right now.

do u prefer Hood vs Harden? Or Kawhi vs Hayward? Or CP3 vs George? Or Blake vs DFav/Boris/Lyles?

This is too simplified. There are infinite factors. Another key one is the Jazz best offensive player. I think he matches up far better against LAC. They are a lot smaller on the perimeter and wing. Plus, Hayward can still do a good job on defense against the more skilled group from Clippers. While he can easily shut out the Grizz wings they can d him up pretty well, and Ennis, Allen, etc. aren't threats to score anyway.

How is that the best case scenario?
*Realistic best case scenario
With avoiding the Grizzlies, Clippers, Rockets in the first round. Of course the Spurs or Warriors being knocked out in the first round is the dream

Only thing that worries me about Memphis/SA is that they so much more XP when it comes to the style we play. We can just dick ram our style against the Clips, Rockets, and Thunder.

FOOOOOLIOS!!! We are basically a LOCK for the playoffs yo! I mean we haven't clinched it or anything, but we look AMAZEBALLS! We are on pace for a 53 win season!!!

LoGrad is licking log.

We have an All Star and a legit shafted All Star! We have an elite Defensive player of the year. We are fighting for the 3rd seed just behind the Warriors and the Spurs. We are still SUPER YOUNG. We have done this with a trillion injuries. And we are only JUST STARTING TO GEL! We have a mastermind jedi GM. We have a Coach who sips on vampire blood martinis and deserves coach of the year. We have finally started clicking offensively. WE ARE THE JUGGERNAUT, BOOMBI**HES!

GLOAT FOLKS. GLOAT AWAY. Bath in Koolaid tonight. The mighty Churro has spoken. The chocolate cream filling is oozing out for everyone to see.

CHOOOOOO CHOOOOOO! NBA (and whoever gets us in the playoffs)... WE'RE BACK!!! FEAR SWAT LAKE CITY come playoff time!!!

Alec Burks defending JJ Redick off the ball for 4-7 games would be a frustrating disaster.

Then put someone else on him, it's not like the ****ing Clippers trot out 3 perimeter players worth guarding in any lineups.

I would rather play the rockets/Spurs without HCA than the Grizzlies with home court folliwed by golden state. Houston doesn't scare me, Memphis does a little, and obviously playing the Spurs beats playing the Warriors in round 2.

I think our bench depth gives us an advantage over the Grizz. Having Burks, JJ and Favors in the 2nd unit is our advantage. I think we'd win that series in 6.

I actually like our chances against the Rockets if we can get them in a series. Again, it's our depth while defense becomes a bigger factor usually in the POs.
Depth is less important in the playoffs, especially now. Teams only really go 8-9 players deep in the playoffs because you don't have BTB games. Also Favors isn't a bench guy.

Why are ya'll scared of the Warriors?? Our team was constructed to beat them. BRING IT!!

Really? Did you not see what Isaiah Thomas was doing to Rudy Gobert in the PNR? They will just send Rudy to defend the ball screen and if he doesnt show then elite pull-up 3pt shooters will murder us and if he shows too much they will just blow by him and have the advantage. It's the one negative about Gobert compared to a guy like DeAndre Jordan. Gobert isn't as good at showing on ball screens.

Thats for the coaches to sort out but they don't have a stretch 4/5 to pull and keep Rudy out of the paint. And hey, we probably won't beat them this year but we match up against them as well as anyone. We will need our old Favors and a good Rodney back to really challenge them though.

GH v Steph
Hood/Ingles v Klay
Hayward v KD (admittedly this is tough but hopefully Hayward can at least negate KDs influence)
Favors v Green
Gobert v Zaza

If our PG and wings can somewhat neutralize the effect of Klay, KD and Steph then the game will come down to the bigs and bench play and who on their roster could stop a healthy Favors??
