Trade for Festus?

Since we cant get any extension done on Hill/Favors...

I don't think we can assume this just because it hasn't happened yet. But sure, if DL can't find a trade that improves the team, and they know for sure that Hill/Favors extensions won't happen, it would be nice to pick up an asset. I'm not convinced Portland gives up a first to do this, though.

What else would they give up to get it done? If they are determined to move Festus then a pick has to be moved for any team to take him on. This would obviously be an ownership call and if the owner is telling you to trade Festus you got to trade Festus.

I could be wrong. However, their owner isn't typically someone who gives away picks to save money, and they aren't even in LT territory.

Agree with this. It won't cost them a first rounder to dump him... maybe if they were in luxury tax and there weren't teams below the salary floor. Their ownership is doing okay so the money savings are nice but first rounders are gold.

Is there anyone here who has a job and doesn't work with at least one "locker room cancer?" What do we all do? We put on our big girl panties and do our damn jobs, regardless.

How much would we owe Festus this year with his injury situation and all? 7 million is a little pricey for a 27, 28th pick.

It's a prorated 7 mil for the rest of the season... insurance may pick it up... he may not be able to get the contract insured because of prior knee issues so that money may not be there. One of the teams under the floor may actually save money by trading for him.

I'd say there is no way they give up a first to trade him.

Would Portland give us Cleveland's pick for Neto and taking his contract? I dont see why we wouldn't do that unless Greg Miller is against paying 6 million for a late round pick.

How did you arrive at $6M?

Jazz are 4.1 million below the 84.7M floor (Jazz salary = 80.6)
Ezili = 7.4
Neto = 0.9

Millers only pay net ~2.4 million.

Like HH said, Utah only pays a prorated portion of that 7.4 million. He does have 1 million guaranteed next year though.
